Sorry, had to change things up a bit, I did try out some new things with this one though, I have found out I am terrible with back views.

Pen vs Binary Pen

At some points I feel like a bit of change is needed, which is why I shall compare my current drawing method with another, or in this case, a tool.

I use the pen tool on the factory settings that SAI came with, it's a nice drawing tool and never led me wrong, well ok it has but bleh shush. I see a lot of people around using the binary pen and the marker tools, which I may also cover if you guys don't mind something like this popping up on an ask blog.

Pen

Anti aliasing. Can't do anything about it, but my lines come out smooth, it is also a lot easier to control the thickness of the lines. As for colouring it hits some problems, the cursor has to overlap with the colour in order to fill the colour fully if you get what I mean, you also have the press down pretty hard on the tablet i order to fill in larger spaces if you don't want to resize your brush, however the opposite is also true. You can colour smaller spaces without needing to resize your brush by simply applying less pressure.

Binary

No anti aliasing, for better or worse. Acts exactly like the photoshop pencil tool, but SAI doesn't have the ultimate control or accuracy of Photoshop when it comes to working with pixels. I turned on the press -> size option in order to get a similar feel to the pen, but ultimately it just wasn't good looking lines, I like my lines being smooth, I use a lot of curves and binary pen just doesn't do it for me. Colouring however is a dream come true, white spaces show up very easily as the mistake will be in pixels and not some downtoned colour of the one you were using to colour. It is a very quick tool, it feels faster than the pen when it comes to colouring and whilst I said it makes very little difference when press -> size is on, it can still be used for the colouring. Only problems being anything I colour without lines such as the whites of the eyes and everything in the eyes themselves, that's a pen job.

Overall

Both tools are good but no matter how I wrap my head around it I can't imagine drawing with the binary pen unless on really low sizes however it is fantastic when used for colouring as I realised when I decided to use it, mainly for flats, I haven't tested shading yet.

This was my opinion of this weekend. TL;DR it was good, not great but good. Certainly wasn't a waste of money or time.
