Ever since the first face off with a vampire Maeve has been a little on edge and given the vision Alice told her it gave her more reason to be worried

"My love." Edward spoke quietly, his movements silent as he pressed gently behind her wanting her to be aware of his presence and the comfort he hoped it brought. "-I'm never leaving your side again." His voice firm with devotion, he didn't want to risk her safety ever again.
“You tell me now? NOW?! It’s my wedding day!”
“….There was never a good time.” Was the only thing he could say, every time he felt he had to tell her she was always busy with her future plans and even now felt like the worst time but also the last time he’d get the chance. “I’m not saying it to change what is about to happen, I just needed to tell you. I know it’s selfish of me.”
“Charmanders are red, mudkips are blue, if you were a Pokemon, I’d choose you.“
The vampire remained silent for a moment, even reading her thoughts didn't give him any insight into what she was talking about. "What is a Pokémon?"

"Can't resist?.." Edward let the words sit there for a moment before glancing back at her again with the same expression, "-Then why pretend you can resist it, why not just give in?" He asked, his tone a little more alluring than anticipated.
“If I’m caught by those men, they’ll kill me.”
"They can try. I'll never let harm come to you, not while I still walk this earth." Edward said firmly, his voice cold and tone icy.

Edward watched her as she rubbed her eyes, the exhaustion had already settled into her features. He smiled warmly as he stood beside her and in a blink scooped her into his arms with ease. “You need rest, love. Let me help you.” He said with a delicate tone as he carried her to her bedroom and laid her down gently. “Can I get you anything?” He asked brushing a loose strand of hair out her face.
