People did not summon demons as much these days. In the past mortals would perform elaborate rituals to call him, hoping he would lend them his power to solve their problems or gain what they desired. Of course a demon's aid was never free...
Now things were different. Less summoning rituals meant less contracts, unless he took some initiative. Theoretically just about every human had something they wanted, but for a demon looking to make a deal it was important to target those who were likely to be desperate.
Sitting on the edge of the bed he waited for the rooms occupant to return. He had taken on a human appearance to avoid immediately scaring the man off. In fact he had opted to possess a human body, since he would otherwise have been intangible.
The man who's body he was currently using had died, or more accurately been killed, shortly before he found him. He was dressed in a blue suit and still maintaining a certain elegance despite the blood stains.
