Hot Take: Fiore’s rivalry with Ashley actually had potential. It was actually the most interesting relationship Ashley had and informed a lot of her other relationships, including her relationship with Jake. But in the end all it amounted to was Ashley going: "I'm going to vote out Fiore and get my revenge!" "But not this time." "Not this time." "Okay, now!" *Fiore is voted out* "Ah did it." Literally the most interesting thing that happens, besides the set-up that these two are going to have a rivalry, is when Ashley thwarts Fiore’s attempt to get back in the game by lassoing her to the ground, because then something’s actually happening.

It would’ve been great if they had actually done something with this, because on one level, Fiore’s never quite had a rival before. Enemies, sure, but never someone who could accurately described as a nemesis. It might’ve been fun to see that dynamic.

Or, hell, maybe actually explore the morality of having an evil child for an enemy. How do you handle that? How far is too far? Question if Ashley is actually just in this situation or if she’s simply pursuing vengeance because her pride was wounded? Explore their relationship. Have it end in a different place from where it started or deepen and flesh it out.

In other words, for a rewrite we’d do something with the premise they presented here.

Finale gave me nothing about Drew, and I am visibly disappointed by this. NOT ONE PHOTO WITH THE CAST!? SCREW THAT, NOT ONE PHOTO WITH LIKE GABBY, DAN OR EVEN FOIRE!?

I can forgive ONC for literally everything else, but I draw the line at the disappearance of my favorite white boy/j

If I was apart the writing team, half of this shit wouldn't happen at all!! Also Tayltina (I forgot how the name, I'm sorry) and Emily make out at the finale after offing Derek, the end!! Yuri wins!

okay, I just finished watching the finale, so here are all my thoughts plus little rewrites. also Trevor is officially transfem in my brain so she's Tatyana now, idk I don't make the rules.

Tomjake: I dunno I still don't like the ship nearly as much as I did when i first watched dvsc, I think it's got far too much screen time and precedence over the series. but it does make sense for their spinoff, and honestly, their closing arc wasn't terrible. as always, found it overly rushed, but with the emotions I guess it could make sense...idk if anything I'd just slowburn that shit. make it worth watching!!

Tom (Himself): I'm sorry but when the hell did he get WATERBOARDED? this show I swear to god...that isn't slapstick comedy ONC 😭💀 that's some serious shit why hasn't it come up at ALL?! like come on!! I would give Tom some discomfort around water, and at least a small discussion about it, ffs

Ally: idk if this is a rewrite but "you can have your yaoi moment later" is on par with "thank you I'm going there" and I love it. she needs more one liners

Gabellie: RAAAAHHH let's go lesbians!! sad Gabby got bit by the tiger but the screen time they get is everything to me, they needed more of this and I would so add that if I could

Tatyana and Emily: as always I love her, she's so silly to me and very dear to my heart. I love that she's still kind to Emily but also calls her out on her shit. kinda building on what I've talked about with Emily but I'd love to have Tatyana be her voice of reason when she's living in this revenge and rage filled part of her mind. in a rewrite I think I would definitely have Tatyana talk Emily down before the scorpions so she isn't hurt, and Tatyana quits, Emily doesn't go to prison, Emilyana is endgame and I'm happy <3

Riya: not pleased she won, I doubt most people are. but unfortunately it's probably the most satisfying end to her arc. I like that even Krystal isn't happy with her winning, and Connor finally is done with her. the only thing I'd change is that Eesha doesn't call her, so she really has no one except her fame.

Alec and Fiore: AAAAA I love them so much, Fiore caring about him, Alec finally adopting her, the bus scene and him carrying her, this is literally my lifeblood and my soul rn. I wouldn't change a damn thing, it's amazing <333

Krystal/Other Staff: I love the way her arc ends with deciding to change the way she's gonna do things, quitting DSVC and letting in new hosts. another very satisfying end for me honestly. if I had anything to nitpick, for the scene on the plane, I'd put her in the dress she's wearing in the S2 finale, just because it's pretty and I think it helps her come full circle as a character, plus it suits the trip to Cancun!

The End Photos: I also love that, love seeing Lill and Nick a bit, all the cute little end story pieces for the characters. I'd just add more honestly, I love the idea!!

Something that’s always annoyed me is that we literally never saw Emily actually do her job before she got fired. In episode one, they said her job was to create drama between the contestants and use the confessionals to do that, which she then.. never does??? I feel like it’s such a missed opportunity that they never really used her for this, especially when all the characters just jump to conclusions and create drama on their own which just makes them unlikeable most of the time. For example, she could’ve told Jake things about Tom and Aiden (even if that plotline sucked), made the Jake and Ally plot worse, Connor and Riya, Ellie with the villains alliance, etc.

Plus, I could be misremembering, but I’m pretty sure we never find out WHY she even helps Yul out in the earlier episodes. It sort of makes sense for his manager to contact her out of all the staff since she’s the newest, but why exactly does she decide to help?? How does it benefit her at all to do something that could (and did) get her fired for the sake of his reputation? Just because the manager would pay her?? It makes no sense to me.

I don’t think ONC had any idea what they were doing with her character for this entire season. Like, what the hell was the POINT of spending 5 episodes straight building up a friendship between her and Trevor that was clearly good for both of them, just to fuck it up for the sake of Trevek. And again, we have no idea what her plan to “ruin the show” even is. I’d assume that she intended for the scorpions to seriously injure or even kill one of the contestants so the staff would be in a lot of trouble, but. How did they NOT consider this as a possibility. They (or atleast Trevor and Derek) knew about the scorpions since season one, they’re in the same caves, and it was probably them who locked them in that cage in the first place. Plus, Trevor seemed to know exactly what Emily was gonna do and just didn’t.. try to warn anyone or say anything at all? Ok. Emily I’m so sorry for what they did to u queen, you deserve to be in a better show than this

every single character deserves to be in a better show, because i can truly get behind why characters like riya or even fucking YUL can be nuanced. TRULY, they do have potential, just not under ONC.

but EMILY??? they did her DIRTY. i don't get anyone saying it's in-character or out-of-character because guess what, her character is barely fucking established. it is SURREAL just how BAD her writing is. if you did a proper character analysis for her you couldn't say shit because there's so many contradicting things to say!! and this sucks!! because she could've been great!! but in ONC's eyes if a character is queer they're interesting enough who cares about actual development that makes sense!!!!! they're so progressive you guys!!! don't you want to watch disventure camp because they show up in those '_ rep in shows' slideshows from tiktok?!!?!?! don't you !?!?!??!?!?!?!!!

anyway, I rewatched S2E3 and Kai getting eliminated was so fucking stupid... THEY VOTED HIM OUT WHEN HE BLEW UP AT YUL.... BUT HE LITERALLY DESERVED IT??? YUL WAS LITERALLY THE ONE INSULTING MAGGY'S APPEARANCE AND MAKING FUN OF ROSA FOR BEING A TEEN MOM!!!!???? HE ALSO LOST THE CHALLENGE FOR THEM TOO. the episode in general irked me... the challenge was pretty gross imo but Kai getting eliminated for that boiled my blood... I get that it was just to keep Yul in longer but still!!! Kai didn't deserve to be eliminated!!

pumpkinon is 100% based for that emily take. like okay the fact that the canonisation of a popular mlm ship required the partial (kristal) and complete and utter (emily) villainisation of the two female characters that stood "in the way" is. hhhhmmmmmm there is a word for that

it's giving bbc sherlock fandom vitriol against mary or like. noco/nowen/alenoah/whatever shippers bashing emma rr for daring to exist as noah's love interest (context i am a nowen shipper and can still 100% recognise this problem). except this time it's the showrunners!

also like has derek and kristal's "fling" been even minorly touched on since the kiss. it was like once the next ep and then what did it just kind of fizzle out. like dgmw im glad to see the back of yet another love triangle but like. where. did it go what happened

i can't even touch on derek not even acknowledging whether or not he's cheating on kristal because it's actually unclear. because whatever his relationship with kristal is it has barely been touched upon im baffled what are we doing

anyway ally's line of "i am so confused" at all the host drama was 100% the funniest thing in that ep and single handedly made me root for her more (and then. yk)

oh fuck this is a rewrite takes blog lol. uhhhh this is based on silly billy's video for this ep, trevor should've shot riya with the tranquiliser while she was trying to climb out that would've been pretty cool

I have two things to bring up: One is more of a complaint and opinion about teams, and the other is a rewrite idea

The Complaint: I had this talk with my sister last night, but the yellow team is mostly Villains reminded me of TDAS where they had the 'good' team and the 'bad' team for some reason and there was a lack of drama so the writers created Mal......(I would get into Mike's 'evil' alter, but I'm not well read about DID and what's wrong about him, plus this is a DC blog, not TD, so)

And while almost the villains of DC being on the same team a good idea, it loses in my opinion 'drama' and tension once the separated villains get voted off and to me it gets boring quick. It was a great idea to mix some villains on different teams, but let's do it for all the villains (Maybe I'll post an example later)

Now, the rewrite: we are all aware of the....trevek thing as our b plot (and Kristal's struggles being a c plot?). Only one thing can be a good thing, and it's the behind the scenes. Imagine this, maybe an OFFICE type beat with Kristal and the other workers (and add more interns and other workers like cameramen and costume designers)

No weird romance, fired over stuff and petty revenge, just silly and (mostly) harmless fun.

People with intern ocs, pull up, and feel free to add to the Office DC workers and just make silly scenarios. Intern ocs can be fun and sometimes less likely to be harmed DC (Rip TD interns)

i desperately want jake to win and i think ONC are too cowardly to make a villain win, but at the same time, they’ve made suuuuch bad choices this season that a riya win is not completely impossible. i am rooting for jake like crazy, but riya has a chance and that makes me so angry urhrhrhrg

i love that finale! so fun!! my ideal finale, in a world where we got character development and good plotlines for everyone, i would’ve loved a tom-rosa maria-alec finale, or like, grett-connor-alec, gabby-connor-alec, jake-connor-grett - really anything except what we got. your version sounds AWESOME. rosa deserves that win
