Cole glanced around for a moment, now that panic had settled down from the rapids amount of coughing, as well as Kai's eyes turning to a relatively normal red again, just a bit of purple lacing in swirls. Although concerning, it was progress of healing.
"Oni poisoning is.. It's a deadly thing. It effects elemental users the most, but it attacks ruthlessly, without a care." Cole sighed just a bit as he pulled Kai closer to his chest, having cradling the boy in his arms out of protection and worry, "Typically, oni poisoning only comes after the fog hits.."
"But, the monastery is at a higher altitude, and the higher up the more deadly.. Kai's already immune compromised- It's a concerning thing.. The only chance we have at anything is to just try and keep more from entering and get what we can out. The body's natural response to oni poisoning is violent coughing to try and rid it."
