Dear Theseus,
Thank you for your letter. You’ve always been so good to write to me regularly even when you’re busy. If you are able, please inquire about your brother. I’m afraid I haven’t heard from him in a while and I do worry. Especially working with those dragons. I’ve heard that he’s done very well with the dragon program, but they are so much bigger than the hippogriffs he’s used to. A stray claw here at home will give you a nasty scar, but a mistake with dragons will dismember or worse.
I hope you’re doing well and that the woolen socks I’ve enclosed reach you. The warming spell should help against the chill. Can’t have you falling ill when there is still work to be done. You never did slow down even as a boy. I know you are very well respected, but remember to smile once in a while. With the extreme cold out there your face will freeze permanently in that serious look.
Things here are quiet. I’ll be so pleased to have the two of you home after all of this is over. The old house just isn’t the same without you.
All my love,
Mum
