Personally , I’m not a hater, I shipped them when S2 dropped but let’s be real-Inho goes beyond everything to ruin Gihun’s life and basically led him to suicide. And sorry, for me he looked smug AF. And the argument from his/inhun fans like “omg but he did tell guards to not kill him” well he obviously doesn’t want Gihun to die but let him live in guilt and misery until he stop coming to games. I’m not judging anyone, it was a toxic doomed yaoi from the start but i don’t really get why people wants them to have “hurt/comfort” when they just hurt.

OK, I found this sitting in the drafts and it aged kind of incredibly lmao. Listen I’ve made it quite clear that I despise the ending of s3 but there is enough canon evidence at that point to validate most inhun shipper talking points and I can’t even deny it

All Inho does in s3 is repeatedly save Gihun to the point of violently preventing his suicide, rather than driving him to it, and goes so far as to bend his own goddamn rules to protect him and give him a fucking cheat code for free. 😭

Like yes the dagger thing is a test and all that, but Gihun refusing to kill the other players in their sleep makes Inho literally fucking cry and then he lets Gihun hold onto the dagger for the rest of the goddamn game while none of the other players even get sharp utensils to eat with. He spends every single game staring at Gihun and at the very end cries over his body. THEN he proceeds to hang onto his bloodstained coat for six months before giving it to his daughter who he can’t even look in the eye bc she looks too much like Gihun like I 1000% agree that this pairing is toxic and doomed but Inho definitely didn’t want Gihun to off himself at any point and his interest went infinitely beyond ‘I want this dude to be miserable’ lmao

Anon idk who you are but I hope you were happy to be proven wrong, I certainly would feel much happier and more validated as an inhun shipper this season if it weren’t for Gihun’s fuckass death

you’ve probably talked about this a lot but every since s3 i feel like this topic has gotten worse.. feel free to wait to answer or something bc i dont want you to hurt yourself

but maybe i just have a very biased opinion against inho and maybe my image of inhun is too toxic, but i hate when he is watered down. i mean to each their own, but a watered down inho/inhun has pretty much been the new “mainstream” inho/inhun on everywhere but maybe here. but its to the point people have been made to feel like they need to apologize or accommodate for not depicting inho this way.

and i try to stay very open minded and accepting on my blog for every interpretation, even if i make my own pretty clear, so i didnt really want to voice it and make ppl feel like they cant depict inhun a certain way, but it upsets me that inho used to not be seen as super helpless and regretful and submissive, and now he is and to even write about a crueler inho is seen as way more ooc. see if the opposite was mainstream and ppl were getting harassed about writing a woobier inho i would also be against that (which its true that both sides fight and are annoying about their own personal interpretations)

but it irks me a little to try to soften the blow of what inho has done both in general and to gihun. he has gone far as the frontman and has gone far to try to break gihun. i personally dont think its ooc to make an extreme out of the meaner, more manipulative inho or to make an extreme out of a regretful inho we see. i just think it sometimes can be hard to imagine an inho who would feel so guilty that hed give up on all his cravings of control to the point he would never hurt gihun again.

Harassing people over fictional fandom shit is an extreme loser hobby and anyone who does it is deeply fucking pathetic, let’s just get that out of the way lol.

But yeah I’ve noticed that this tends to happen with villainous characters in general. They’ll spend the majority of their time doing despicable unforgivable shit but then they’ll have a tiny moment of weakness or some tragic backstory will be revealed and suddenly all is forgiven in the eyes of the fandom (and sometimes the narrative). I try to keep my Harry Potter talk to a minimum for hating JKR reasons lol, but Snape is a very good example of one of these characters. He spends like 99.9% of his time in the books being an absolute piece of shit who bullies children but he gets some woobie moments towards the end so I guess he’s been a hero the whole time?? 😭 people do not be understanding nuance and I’m including certain authors in this

Inho is a little different in the sense that he isn’t a particularly vocal character and his motivations are very mysterious, so it leaves a lot up to interpretation. Sites like Twitter and TikTok are full of very young people who tend to struggle with shades of grey like that lol. The internet in general is a very black-and-white place, unfortunately. But if we’re talking about canon alone, there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Inho is deeply regretful and submissive or whatever else u said they’re saying lmao he barely even has any screentime or dialogue. He just has wobbly eyes at one point or two lmao. No one should be criticizing anybody else about what is or isn’t ooc based on that absolute shitshow of a final season in my opinion 🥲

My advice will always be the same; in fandom u create & engage with what you want, and ignore what you don’t. No one should be harassing anyone. And delete Twitter. Everyone should just delete Twitter. Stop looking at fucking Twitter

As a fan of toxic, depraved Inho/Inhun, I'm curious as to what your thoughts are regarding Inho's relationship with his dead wife? Do you headcanon him as having treated her the same way as he treats Gihun? Or did the games break him and make him that way? Is it something about Gihun that brings out his heartless bastard side?

It’s actually wild you should bring up my thoughts on the wife because my very first post about Squid Game on this blog was addressing this exact thing! Before I was gently educated about certain medical statistics in Korea in the replies (which I appreciated!!), I had the idea that maybe her liver cirrhosis was the result of alcoholism*—like maybe Inho was toxic in some ways towards her which led to her using alcohol to cope. I don’t think he was nearly as deranged with her as he is with Gihun, but I don’t doubt that he caused her a lot of stress in one way or another, whether it was because of how intense he was with his job or his obsessive/jealous/possessive tendencies. People don’t tend to just turn into murderous obsessive nutjobs overnight yknow? I think the games just brought out a really dark side of him that had already existed but hadn’t really emerged.

(*I didn’t put this in my initial post but, based on how often in canon Inho has tanked straight whiskey like an absolute psychopath, I’ve also toyed around w the headcanon that both Inho and his wife were alcoholics and maybe met in a support group or AA equivalent of some kind. I kind of love alcoholic!Inho and I always enjoy when people incorporate that in their writing.)

BUT YEAH, I’ve said it over and over again but Inho being an overprotective, overbearing tradhusband just really fits him and I bet his wife’s stubbornness and independence was a direct foil for that. They probably complemented one another other most of the time, but when they fought they really fought. Unfortunately her death probably strengthened Inho’s notion that he’s the one that knew best for her, but she didn’t listen, and he isn’t going to let anything like that happen again—cue him forcibly preventing Gihun’s death over and over again, overriding Gihun’s desire to end his own life… right up until he couldn’t.

These asks are so old that the linked post in the first one doesn’t even exist anymore 😭 I totally forget what it was specifically about but I mentioned sangihun ghost sex headcanons in my tags on it so that’s what these anons are referring to lol.

So when I talk about ghosts here, I imagine they work the same way they do in American Horror Story, my actual favorite show* (what’s a Squid Game I’ve never heard of her). There are certain locations in AHS like the Murder House, Hotel Cortez etc that are full of concentrated dark energy bc of all the death and other dark shit that has happened within them, so whoever dies in these locations gets trapped there forever as a ghost. The Squid Game island could easily be one of these places, so I imagine that the people who die there are trapped in much the same way.

In AHS the ghosts function pretty much like regular people, like they can interact with the physical world just like normal, but can disappear and reappear at will. And like I said, they’re bound to the place they died—except on Halloween, the one day when they can roam freely and go wherever they want. So picture this: Sangwoo’s spirit is bound to the island, but on Halloween he can go visit Gihun and they can have birthday sex 😩 In death I’m sure Sangwoo doesn’t have the same hangups that he had in life so he’d finally let himself rail Gihun the way he has always dreamed of. 🙏🏻

(On a fluffier note I imagine him, Ali and Saebyeok going to visit Gihun at his motel just that one day out of the entire year to spend his birthday with him, so he doesn’t have to be alone 🥹)

These asks are much older than s3 so now we have the addition of Gihun’s death and I can just imagine his ghost interacting with new players and helping them, and also annoying the shit out of Inho and the guards to no end lol. Then on his birthday he can leave the island and go haunt the shit out of Inho/have birthday sex with him and this concept brings so much peace to my soul

The answer is getting way too long and I still have so many more to do but I WILL expand on this idea further at some point. Bringing AHS-style ghosts into the Squid Game universe creates an enormous amount of potential since there are just so many dead people on that island. And don’t even get me started on the Sangwoo-Gihun-Inho love triangle shenanigans that could ensue. 👀👀👀
