Her mother had been a mermaid too. But her mothercould decide when she wanted a tail and when she wanted legs, something Elsahad tried to practice for years, but she was nowhere near that much controlover the tail. Instead, she sometimes could control it,like when she went out swimming, but mostly she just had to live with a tailappearing when she thought aboutit too much. Not during councils, meetings or events, but when she was alone,when she was bored or when she was taking a bath. During a full moon too.
She had not shared the secret with anyone but hermother, until she had disappeared and with Anna when they were children, butAnna could not remember her sister’s tail, like she could not remember hersister’s powers.
When she learned her Coronation would take place on anight with a full moon, she tried everything she could to postpone the Coronationa week, but it was impossible. And as if being nervous not the let her powersshow wasn’t enough, she now had to make sure to disappear from the ball beforethe full moon had risen too.
So, while she was having the time of her life,socializing with Anna, she excused herself just before her legs would turn to atail. But suddenly Anna wanted to ask her something important and Elsa wasrunning out of time, so she simply told her sister no, without even knowing the question and ran off. She reached thedoor that lead to the dinning hall, just before her legs disappeared and shefell to the ground.
As she heard footsteps approach, she tried to coverher tail with the dress she was wearing, but it didn’t work out well. In fact,she only made things worse when a thin layer of ice covered the end of thetail. With widened eyes, she looked up when the door opened, facing the man whohad just been by her sister’s side, and according to the footsteps she stillheard, her sister followed them too. “I-This..I- You- I think I can explain this!”
