Ivar takes a swing, bringing his ax around in a wide swing. It is a dramatic beginning to the match, but Camilla avoids it with a quick backstep.

Camilla tries to retaliate with a strong downward swing, but Ivar is prepared. He sidesteps and dodges, leaving them both at a stalemate for the beginning of the match.

The sand makes for tricky terrain, and as Ivar makes a good swing with his ax, he loses his footing. It sets his aim off just slightly and Camilla is able to duck out of the way.

Camilla retaliates with an upward strike, but Ivar catches her ax with his own. A heavy metallic thunk sounds over the sandy arena and the crowd gasps as the two lock blades for a moment before they both push apart and regain some distance.

CHROM: "They seem perfectly matched so far, so I’m taking back that question. Ivar seems to know exactly how to handle his opponent, though the sentiment seems to be returned.”

This time, when Ivar feels his feet sinking in the sand, he doesn’t falter. He uses it to his advantage and ducks lower, getting underneath Camilla’s defense before he brings his ax up, scoring a strong hit against her side.

Camilla grinds her teeth and doesn’t let Ivar move away after his strike. She quickly brings her own ax down against his shoulder with a powerful hit that sends him stumbling to the sand for a moment, but he recovers quickly.

EMM: “Oh my goodness, we finally have some points scored this fight, but it’s still tied! This is a nail-biter.”

Ivar makes another broad swing, trying to catch Camilla before she can get out of range. But Camilla makes a rolling dive, surprisingly agile with her ax, and avoids his strike.

Attacking after her lithe dodge, though, is easier said than done. Camilla is slowed down by her quick maneuvering, so Ivar is easily able to dodge her next attack.

Ivar brings his ax up and is preparing a powerful downward strike, but Camilla shocks the crowd with a risky move. She tries to strike as well, rushing toward Ivar and THROWING her own ax at his shoulder. This takes Ivar off guard and he misses his own strike when Camilla’s ax slams into his torso for a solid hit.

Without her ax, Camilla is faster, and she continues to rush towards Ivar, grabbing her ax again once she’s close enough. At such close quarters, Ivar has no opportunity to defend as Camilla brings her ax’s long hilt up in a strong hit right to his jaw.

EMM: “What a decisive end! These two have been circling each other all match, but Princess Camilla stole it all at the end.”
CHROM: "What a sudden jump forward in the score! Even if she hadn’t snuck in that counterattack, Ivar was defenceless at the end. It looks like Nohr’s representative is going through!”
