Hey how's Ret doing???

I… honestly have no idea. I haven’t heard from him since I got that message after he challenged Cocky to that lightsaber duel…

Wherever he is, I hope he’s doing okay.

what prompted you to do the whole lyndi/ret/cocky thing?

((Well, I’ll admit, soon after Cocky and Lyndi started talking and someone said “I ship it”, the idea kind of started to grow on me XD I even put together a list of reasons why I ship them {Speaking of, interesting to know that I’m not the only one out there who thinks that Cocky and Lyndi would make a cute couple :3} And it seems that Lyndi liked the idea too as she developed a crush on him XD

That aside, as time went on, I started to realize that the relationship I was trying to write with Ret and Lyndi seemed kind of… forced.  They’d been together since I’d created them, but it felt more like a relationship out of convenience/design/”because I said so” rather than true chemistry between them.  In fact, Ret was actually created FIRST, for a game idea I had, and Lyndi was actually designed to be just the “cool-headed girlfriend” to Ret’s anxious character… until I picked her up and took her in a different direction.  And I’m glad I did :3 Over the time I spent getting to know her better, her personality changed somewhat from what I’d originally imagined it to be.

Any genuine connection I’d felt between Ret and Lyndi was getting weaker and feeling pretty contrived; soon I found myself wanting to pair Lyndi with someone else altogether (including a briefly mentioned character whom I’ve got future plans for in regards to Lyndi >:3), so one night I was talking with Cocky-mun and said I had a stupid idea of Ret getting so jealous about the kiss incidents that he challenges Cocky to a sword fight.  Upon hearing that, her immediate reaction was “LIGHTSABER DUEL”.  Looks like my idea wasn’t stupid after all :3  Anyways, this provided an “out” story-wise for the Chilzumi couple so they could become single.  (on a side note, I’d always thought of Ret’s mother being domineering, but that I found just added to the reasons why him snapping would be believable for his character.)

While Lyndi and Cocky never did end up together in the main storyline, at the very least, she’s free for any other relationship I might write for her in the future… and hopefully next time it’ll be more natural :3

Are you glad Ret is gone?

…I have no choice but to be honest here, so… yes.  Our relationship was dwindling, hurt by separation and his issues with his mother (that bitch).  I do miss him occasionally, and I wish him the best–I hope he’s getting help too–but I feel freer with him out of my life.

This also leaves me open for other dating opportunities.  Not gonna lie (actually I can’t XD) but it’s kind of exciting.

Dear Ret,

Despite what happened, I can’t help but feel bad for you.  You probably think I would never forgive you, and while I’m still upset, I do forgive you.  I also know you’re not the only one to blame for this situation.

Obviously, there’s your mother.  You know she and I never got along, and the sole reason for that was how she treated you.  Since talking about her makes me sick, I’m stopping here.

Then… there’s me.  I don’t know if you picked up on it, but our relationship… it just felt at some point like we were staying together because of a manufactured reason.  I wanted to try to make it work, but the glue between us just kept coming undone.  So… I’m sorry for not breaking things off sooner, and for leading you on for so long when I was starting to drift.  You shouldn’t have had to go through that.

In the end, maybe this was the thing that needed to happen to get things moving… I’m not saying that lightsaber injuries and broken noses are good, but they certainly got you to initiate the much-needed end to our relationship.  So… for that alone regarding this incident, thank you.

I hope you’re doing well, wherever you are.  And I hope that you’re happy where you are, or at least, working your way toward happiness.

What is the future of lyndi-blog?

((As it is, Lyndi’s blog honestly doesn’t generate a lot of traffic… neither do Ret’s blog or Fabrice’s art blog.  While I, like Cocky-mun, am feeling kind of burned-out RP-wise, I’m planning on just reverting Lyndi (and Ret)’s blog(s) simply to askblogs.  I’d like to do some stuff with these characters in the future that I can get professionally published, so it’d be nice to have the “official” blog to answer questions, run by the original author :D

So yes, Lyndi’s blog (as well as Ret’s and Fabrice’s blogs) will be open, just primarily for asks and not really for regular RPs in the future.  Little back-and-forth character interactions spanning a few messages are fine, but nothing really extensive will happen.))

Lyndi/Ret, Lyndi/cocky

((Ah, let us travel to the world of “if only it had lasted”…

Points out everything under the sun that they like at the furniture store

Probably Lyndi.  Ret would comment on how nice each piece is, or something along those lines.

Surprises the other with breakfast in bed

Definitely Ret.  He would appreciate the thought if Lyndi did that with him, though.  But she should probably stick to simple or pre-made dishes then.

Coordinates the costumes they wear to parties, conventions, etc.

Lyndi.  Ret would, for the most part, be pretty happy wearing whatever she would’ve chosen for him.

Drops by randomly to visit/calls the other at work

Ret, if he could.  With his former job as a Battle Corp cartographer, Lyndi calling him would’ve been dangerous.  Visiting would’ve been out of the question too.

Patiently teaches the other how to do something, possibly with close contact

Ret might try to give Lyndi sketching lessons, holding her hand in his and guiding it.  That’s nice and close, huh?

Unconsciously hugs the other during the night while asleep

They never got to this point, but I think Ret might’ve done that.  If Lyndi would’ve hugged Ret in their sleep, it would’ve been that she woke up for a moment, smiled, hugged him, and fell back asleep.

Falls asleep while cuddling during a movie

Lyndi.  She would be too comfortable.

Spends time just listening to the other’s heartbeat

This was Lyndi to a T.  Ret was actually concerned that he might’ve had a heart problem with how often she’d want to listen, but she always reassured him that he was fine and she just enjoyed doing this.

Waits like an eager puppy for the other to return home

Ret, but Lyndi on some occasions.

Takes most of the pictures on vacation

Ret.  Despite the fact that he’s a sketch artist, he’s also used cameras on the job and was thus well-acquainted with them.

Buries the other in the sand while at the beach

Lyndi.  Poor Ret XD

Has to be dragged onto thrill rides by the other

Ret.  Lyndi wants him on the ride whether he likes it or not.

Makes the first move in the Tunnel of Love ride

Lyndi.  She’d be the one to start poking or nuzzling him.

Finds the best spot at a park for a picnic, fireworks, or other event

Lyndi, since Ret would be carrying the important things, like the picnic basket.

Gives the better kisses

I think they’re about equal here, considering that Lyndi is Ret’s first girlfriend and Ret is Lyndi’s first “official” boyfriend.

So what would things be like if Cocky and Lyndi did end up together?

Cocky, I think.  Lyndi would point out her favorites to, but not to the same extent.  There would be a lot of discussion over how to decorate.

Cocky; he’s an excellent cook.  Then again, if Lyndi tried and failed to make a good breakfast, that would warrant some cooking classes from him (see below :3)

I could see them both excitedly discussing their costumes, coordinating the themes and details to look like an amazing and unified couple.

The only one who could actually do this would be Cocky, since his job usually requires stealth and secrecy.  Lyndi knows this and wouldn’t even dare calling him while he’s working.

Cocky, and he’d be teacher her glassblowing and cooking.  Lots of close contact as he guides her hands X3

Cocky; he’s a pillow hugger, which is usually the case when there’s no one to cuddle with while sleeping.

I’d say there’s an equal chance here, especially if they’re both really comfy.

Definitely Lyndi; she’s already done this just as a friend.  Not sure if Cocky would want to listen to Lyndi’s heart, but she wouldn’t mind at all if he did.

Maybe Lyndi, but only insofar as if she’s not sure she can ride because of her prosthetic.  As Cocky’s told her, he’ll make sure she can ride, rules or not XD Otherwise she’d be up for the same crazy rides he’d want to ride.  Well, for the most part.  Anything really extreme and he’d have to pull her along with him XD

Cocky.  And Lyndi would quickly reciprocate.

Cocky; he’d be enthusiastic about finding just the right spot, like a treasure hunt, and setting it up for whatever they’re there for.

Cocky.  He’s very experienced, and Lyndi’s already said she’s enjoyed his kisses.  She herself would get better with practice ;3))

The Loneliest Number

Lyndi paced back and forth.  She was at a total loss as to where Ret could’ve possibly gone, what he was doing, and what he meant by ‘forgive me’.  She’d been on the phone with S, asking for as much advice as she could on the situation, but it ultimately didn’t help her get any closer to finding out where Ret was.

Suddenly, she got a text.

Lyn, Ret just tried to kill me. I managed to neutralize him, but I’m afraid I hurt him. If you’re going to tend to him, please don’t be alone with him, he’s become unhinged and violent. This is for your own security; take it seriously. We’ll talk about all this later. I’m very sorry about all this. Very very sorry. :( — 1stltcockwell

Lyndi’s frame shook.  “He... he WHAT????”  Her fingers flew over the keys as she frantically typed a response.

OH MY GODS are you okay???? This whole thing is my fault, I’m so sorry!!!! I told him about the kisses and he... I don’t know, he seemed calm as he left, I don’t know what got into him!! Anyway, I’m sorry!!! Do you need help or tending to??

She stared out the window of her apartment, blank with shock.  How could this have been the same Ret she’d known these past few years?
