Uprooted and tossed around
My life ground up like Edelwood trees
How they forced me to embark
Is swallowed by the dark...."
Wirt lay in the backseat of the car as it bumped and shambled over poorly paved roads taking him away from the life he had finally grown to like. Taking him away from his home, his friends,... Sarah... (Sure he would be gone far from Jason Funderberker but really was that worth the pain of leaving Sarah behind?) He let out a dramatic sigh, trying to focus on anything other than the trees growing overhead-
-How they loomed... it brought back memories of that world beyond-
It made his stomach churn.
"You don't need to be so dramatic Wirt." He could hear his mother's voice from the front of the car. "This is for your own good- you're so anxious nowadays, sweetheart." While her voice was filled with sympathy and the best intentions, Wirt was far from swayed.
"Taking me away from my life is supposed to help me relax?" Yes there had been... problems... but only around large bodies of water... or the train tracks... or the cemetery... or that hill-
But that was not worth moving so far out of the way.
"Plus your dad got a great job here-" She began trying to reason with him again but the boy cut her off.
"Wirt..." She spoke severely to counteract his moodiness. He huffed and slink further down in his seat, closing his eyes.
"And so the Pilgrim moves again
Away from his friendly woods into the lonely town
Isolation takes its root-"
He was unable to finish his poem as something slimy plopped on his face and proceeded to croak loudly.
"Jason Funderburker says: Cheer up Wirt! You'll make lots of new friends! Like with Beatrice!" Greg deepened his voice so he could properly imitate the frog that he was sliding all over his brother's face. The brunet sighed, sitting up and out of reach of his brother's tiny arms, wiping his face with his sleeve.
"Thanks Greg..." he sighed turned to look out the window. He found after returning from the woods, getting mad at Greg the way he used to was nearly impossible. So he simply reached over and ruffled the boy's hair, mussing it up a bit as the car puttered to a stop.
"Here we are!" Greg's dad stopped the car at a downtown area, opening the door. "Gravity Falls! Why don't you kids have a look around while your mom and I get directions to the new place?"
"Mmhmm..." Wirt slid out of the car, his lips pursed into a thin line, one cheek puffed out as he let his mind wander- looking around over the town.
Something seemed... off... about this place...
He started to walk around trying to figure out exactly what the problem was.
