((OMG I WISH. I have a dog that my mom barely wants and a fish so thats already enough to juggle. PLUS my boyfriend used to have a parrot and it legit attacked him. I'm pretty sure he wants to try again though xD))

Rowan was shocked to see Anna standing there at his door; beaten and bruised. “Ms. Ann? W-What happened?” The young man said in a worried tone. He quickly got around her and ushered her inside.

Rowan sat her down on the couch and hurried about to get bandages and potions to help heal her wound. All the while questions came to mind. How did she get here? Why was she here? What happened?

   A hand gripped the front of her tunic, tears pricking at her eyes and her hand shaking on the fabric. What used to me a deep green was now nearly black, stained with blood and other unmentionables. But that isn’t what made her cry, no far from it.

   She sat on the man’s couch, tugging the tunic away from her throat for a moment before she heard herself murmur, "Rowan, I think I… I think I’m dead.”

"Are you sure you know what you’re doing?”

Ariel turned her head with a toothy grin as she sat on a limb of a tree, shrugging her shoulders. There wasn’t stuck up there and she wanted to see what it was. If it was a human thing then maybe it was something she could keep? Reaching up for the next one, she attempted to pull herself up while digging her toes against the bark to help assist her in moving.

Tumblr Prom

Nerves flashed through her stomach as she changed clothes. This would be her first prom and to be honest she wasn’t entirely sure what that meant. Ariel knew there would be dancing but other than that what else was there? Though she was a bit uncertain she couldn’t deny how excited she was! A few days ago she had gone out while Rowan was at work to find a dress and hoped that the twili approved.

After the dress was in place her hair was next. It was hard to do on her own hair and it took nearly an hour to weave the flowers into it but she wanted to look perfect for the human or twili gathering. Once she finished everything, Ariel slowly moved to look at herself in the mirror. Blue eyes moved over the eyeshadow, the lipstick, the few stray pieces of hair and smiled. Hopefully the boys thought it was okay but there was only one way to know.

Taking a deep, she walked out of the room Rowan had allowed her to use and looked around to see if she could find the twili. Without her voice she couldn’t very well call out. Instead she went into the kitchen to get a glass of water to calm her down while she waited for Rowan or Erow to come out.

"There’s plenty of fish in the sea."

A soft chuckle passes Ariel’s lips at the comment. The human meaning for the phrase went over her head and it was very literal to her. Nodding her head, she searched for paper and pen before beaming as it came into sight. Quickly she wrote out her message. ‘Of course there are. Many different types too. Why?’ Ariel cocked her head to the side, wondering why the twili was talking to her about fish.

An Early Parting

Ariel was silent. To most it wasn’t a surprise since her voice was taken away but now she had nothing to say. Tears stained the pale cheeks while her eyes stared forward at the two stones in front of her. It all seemed to happen so fast and there was nothing she could do.

Reaching out slowly, her fingers traced over the names as though it would somehow make a difference. That it would make the boy’s come back to her side and they would let her know it was all okay. Her shoulders trembled trying to hold back the tears but it seemed impossible as the water seemed to drip down and land on the fresh dirt beneath her. It wasn’t fair… Ariel had been gone only for a day or so and when she returned the house was empty. It took her days to find out what happened because no one cared to listen to her. To try and understand a stupid mute girl thrashing her hands around. Rowan was the only one who cared to try and understand her and any who mocked her were met with Erow. They were her only friends here on the surface and she felt empty without them.

IT WASN’T FAIR! She wanted to scream. To make a sound, to somehow wake the sleeping boys under her and finally her lips parted. Her lungs hurt and only a pitiful sound of air escaped as she attempted to scream and her fist slammed into the ground. She pounded at it till her fingers began to bleed but she never seemed to notice. ‘Come back! You can’t leave me! Please! Come back!’ Silence… It was the only thing that formed but she had to try. Ariel didn’t care if she could never see them again as long as they came back. As long as they were on this earth and happy. To see Rowan’s smile or Erow’s face when she didn’t understand his innuendo.

Hands wrapped around her body and nails dug into her arms. ‘Please...’ She tried again with no response before laying down on the ground. It felt as though her body had been ripped into two and wept silently for a few hours, never caring as humans passed by.

Even as it began to rain she sat there. Did her father know she was in pain and called the storms? No… She was in their world and even the sea witch couldn’t answer her wish. Slowly Ariel got up and reached into the pocket of the jacket Rowan had given her. She always seemed to wear it since it was the first gift Rowan had offered her and pulled out the nuts Rowan had given her. Blue eyes stared at them for a moment, remembering everything from the day they all met to the last day together before giving the deku nuts a soft kiss. Gently she set them in front of the graves before getting up. She could barely turn away from her friends knowing that their faces would only be a memory and gave a final kiss their graves, promising to return.

Death of a King :Ask Meme:

Hearing the death of Helm was not easy for Rowan. Though he hadn’t necessarily been that close to him, they did share moments with one another. Not all of them being happy, but they were touching at the very least. It wasn’t much the fact that Helm had passed, but that he was gone. Gone, meaning that his future on this plan would no longer exist.  The Helmaroc King had gone to a plain far out of Rowan’s reach. If such a plain existed.

There would be no more adventures, no more conversations, no more becoming friends. That is what hit the young man most. He wouldn’t be able to learn more about Helm. Not only as a interesting creature, but as a friend. Rowan curled up into a small ball and just stared at the ground. It was hard loosing someone. Especially when loss never came to you as much as most. He was lost at what he should feel. Emotion started to swell up after a point. Just remembering Helm made his chest ache and tears fill his eyes. It just wasn’t fair. But then, hopefully, Helm would go  to a place. A sort of nirvana made for his kind. The rookie smiled at that thought. It hurt to loose the friend he was just starting to know, but knowing the helmaroc might have moved on to a greater plain, helped ease some of his pain. However, even with this happy though, Rowan sobbed. His breathing irregular and his marking dimmed. Yes, even with a happy thought, it still hurt knowing that Helm was gone.
