Any local cryptids?
"Let me see....*takes out a hefty scroll* .....ah here's a few of the more interesting ones, I'm going to simplify them but these are creatures I've personally put on paper...."
The Sunder bird: A large pterosaur like beast known for attacking and killing fisherman and local wildlife; local sightings tell that the creature is large enough to capture a grown adult and is mostly recognizable for the bizzare crest on its head, grey/blue and red coloring and souless ember eyes. Areas that this creature has been found include the costal regions of the country, the highest mountains in the central part of kirikagure and mostly in a cliff side area where evidence of predation has been seen.
Walking Fogs: Unlike the mist village techniques and summonings, these just appear outside of Kirigakure and just straight up kill everything. Other villages have blamed us for these things and all we do is deny it. However there is a pattern, they only attack small villages who've openly criticized the mist village and have had plans to destroy us. We are not sure as to how these things appear but it has been spotted throughout places in the cloud and grass village. I'm 100% sure these creatures have no allegiance to the missed village but I am pretty certain if they have ever been seen here they would definitely cause a lot of problems.
Umebozu: Known as "Sea Monks", these are seen as bald headed entities that appear above the ocean surface. Sightings of these entities have usually resulted in natural disasters such as floods or mudslides in parts of Kirikagure. The issue comes with what happens to thoughs who becomes intranced by multiple umebozus. Apparently they can "hypnotize" people into coming into the ocean and drown. Legend tells that these used to be regular temple monks whom where forced to drown in the ocean by the first mizukage, that later came back as angry spirits. I will say they're actually harmless...just....don't go out and try to get a closer look....you won't live to tell the tale.
The Horned One: A tall, hairy, anterled creature that has been seen a few times when the Boatmen came to Kirikagure. Not much in known about the creature but recent sightings have been cropping up in the deeper parts of the swamp areas around the main village. However, the creature has only been spotted when the full moon is at the highest point in the sky. ....I'm still doing research on this entity.
Fish Folk: Not to be confused with the Hoshigaki clan, these are entities that are deceptively human but harbor aquatic/amphibious traits that give away their inhuman form. Sightings of these creatures are more common in the metropolitan area of Kirikagure, only for the entities or in some rare cases the witness disappear. Legend tells that these are the damned souls of traitors to the village in a state of cursed purgatory, doomed to travel the land as hideous monstrosities. I've personally dealt with these creatures....let's just say their existence wasn't something natural to begin with.
Mist Folk: These are ghostly entities that take the form of whomsoever is within this anomalous mist, sometimes if you peer into the missed long enough you'll either see yourself in a distorted or corrupted way... Or a premonition of what is there to come. Zabuza actually had a short experience with this and he claims he saw himself cloaked in swords, knives and weapons, sporting a set of horns to really put the situation in effect. He doesn't like talking about it, but seeing how I see to attract people who've affected by such things...he probably help me start this whole case file side hobby of mine.
Puddle Hoppers: These aren't a creature per se but an anomalous occurrence that as of late has not been fully understood but has been heavily researched on. These are medium to large anomalous pools of water that at first look relatively normal, are actually portals to different dimensions. There is in fact a secret village far away from every other population strictly for individuals who have originated from these pools. One such case was that of a man named "Robert Paul", a businessman who claimed that he "stepped on a puddle near 4th Avenue and 23rd street" in a location called "New York City". No such city exists in our world by our knowledge. This "Robert" individual was immediately terminated after he was deemed a possible treat to the village. This was the original protocol.... until a certain newly recruited anbu accidentally fell into one of the puddles. His name will not be mentioned due to security reasons, he claims that there actually is a complete different world to our own if you travel down into these puddles, however, it was to our horror that there were several vagrant villagers who have been deemed insane by the population. We had interviewed several of them and separated them from the rest of the village for security. Once and awhile, a new unlucky individual comes through, and we have to sent them to "Edo" village, a rudimentaryly simple village where they can live out the rest of their days unexposed to the shinobi world for their own comfort.
"Well, *closes the scroll* that's all I will reveal for the moment. And if you must know, shinobi who are assigned to Edo village are forbidden from revealing the location...so no...you can't just go a visit these strange and forgein people."
