Typically, Ruby arrived at the station, greeted everyone, and then sat behind her desk to read through some files and add to some notes she'd left on some cases. She finished all the paperwork before she'd step into Rick's office to work with him. There were some suspicions spread around their colleagues regarding their closeness and their chemistry when working together; much so that they had to force themselves to remain more professional as ever, but after their shift ended, they'd end up going on a couple of dates.
These suspicions seemed to have reached Rick's former wife, Lori, and the moment she heard about them, she faced Ruby about them while Rick was apparently out on duty. She'd stormed into the station looking for Ruby and the moment she'd seen her, she pounced towards her but was stopped by officers standing near Ruby.
"He's my husband, and he's the sheriff. You should respect that. You're being nothing but disrespectful." As soon as they kept her at a considerable distance from her, Lori pointed at her with her index finger while she spoke ever so angry.
Ruby's arms crossed over her chest, eyebrows furrowing as she observed the woman before her calmly. Yet deep within, being humiliated like this wasn't acceptable. And she was holding back her rage, her wish to break things and scream.
"Ma'am, you attempted to attack an officer. I advise you to remain silent or anything you say from now on might hold against you in a court."
"Don't ignore my words, Ruby Ryder. You know better than that."
"Better than prying into someone's personal matters, making a scene in a police station, and attempting to attack a police officer. Yes, i know better. And I know that anyone can choose who they want to be with when they're no longer committed. Have a nice day." She dissmissingly waved at her, head turning to keep her eyes away from her as she was internally raging.
