17. our characters sharing a lucid dream
When Lunar rested her head against the soft fabric of her pillows, she knew what to expect. Her dreams never changed. Not since she became Tsarina.
The Clipper was burning.
Dream Pirates and Nightmare Men spilled from the shadows as the Nightmare Galleon launched a full attack. Soon, Pitch Black, formerly known as Kozmotis Pitchiner, the Lord High General, the man that the Lunanoff house trusted most, would board. He would command the shadows with a fearsome might, his voice harsh and commanding as orders were shouted and victory tasted on his lips.
But Lunar did not care about that.
Usually, in her dreams, Lunar was alone. But not today. Today was different, the Sandman himself joining her. Why he was there or how, Lunar did not know, nor did she care too. She met him with a cool gaze, the fires of the ship licking at her dusky golden skin. "Sanderson," Lunar spoke quietly. "What you are about to see. You are to speak of it to no one. That is an order."
There was a secret fear in her gaze. What Sanderson was about to witness, no one was meant too. It was one of her greatest secrets, and a shame. But she couldn't help that right now. Lunar knew from experience, the dream would not end until she did what must be done.
