The void of a Morty stumbled and scrambled backwards a little. Confrontation. Fuck. Yes, he’d been stalking the other for a little while now, but he hadn’t planned on actually talking to the man. He slapped himself internally at being so stupid— suddenly regretting his choice of entertainment a little.

“O- oh..” Blank doe eyes stared up at Flirt, suddenly feeling intimidated, “I’m- uh- mmmooorty?” A graceful introduction. He didn’t even go by his first name, but it worked for now. “Uhh- sor- sorry… I wasn’t- I wasn’t gonna do anything..” It wasn’t an exact answer, and the entity completely avoided the other question all together in favor of awkwardly and timidly looking up at the taller man. “…you are?” It felt he at least owed the man a friendly gesture, asking his name with a slight head tilt.

A Morty. How interesting. Flirt smiled, letting the other off a hook, at least a bit. He didn’t feel as threatened anymore knowing it was a Morty, even if he was odd.

“You can call me Flirt, love.” Flirt held out a gentle hand to him, offering to hold his hand. He looked around, wondering why the Morty was alone. Perhaps he had simply begun following him because he had lost his own Rick? “Are you lost, sweetheart? Where is your Rick?”

It was late. Very late. Mordecai had long since fallen asleep— holding his laptop on the couch while he tried to finish some last minute documents and utterly failing to do so. The sound of knocking came as an annoyance— and at first he turns himself away from the sound, pressing his face into the back of the couch with a light groan. The voice however— that snapped him out of his daze. Shadow?

Quicklyjolting up from his sleeping position, the boy flicked on the lap with one swift motion before bolting for the door. For some reason— he felt as if something might be wrong. As he opened the door— he couldn’t have been MORE right.

It took him a moment to register the sight before him— Shadow’s body was riddled with scars leaking a strange white fluid— not to mention the void of a Morty was shaking something awful. “Shadow!? What the hell happened!?” Reaching out, he pulled the entity into his arms as gently as possible. Lifting him off the ground he immediately brought him to the couch— setting him down as carefully as he could. The strange white liquid now soaked his carpet and couch but he didn’t care.

“Stay here—” In a rare panic, Mordecai practically flew through his apartment— grabbing whatever he thought would help. Bandages, towels- that bleeding had to STOP. When he finally came back to Shadow, he draped a blanket over the shivering void before sitting down and instantly wiping what he could only assume to be blood away from the boy. 

“Everything’s going to be fine— I’ve got you, alright?” He pressed a gentle kiss to the entity’s forehead as he worked— his soft spot for Shadow only grew by the day and tonight was probably one of the best nights to show it.
