That's a good question, and one that I wish I could answer with a picture! I'm not able to scribble one up right now, but I will say that uniforms are standard in Damijani public schools. The rules and uniforms may be different for private schools, but I think uniforms are more common than not in this empire.

As for Folkvar Kingdom, I imagine only certain private schools require uniforms, and only the fancier ones.

The World Athenaeum College doesn't require students to wear uniforms during lectures, but it does have unique uniforms for its competitive chess team. Go Bookworms! 🐛

Which fggs are or would be good at sports?

A lot of them do play sports in their leisure time!

Evan: His sheer bulk makes him a great wrestler. He demonstrated this in "Evangelites Skip, Matuzans Sway".

Lukas: Archery, obviously. He's also a good sprinter thanks to his long legs and lean frame. Criminals who try to run from him don't get far...

As for soccer, I suspect it would have emerged from a flat, open place like Rodanga (Matuzu Kingdom). There is plenty of space to play here, and also a lot of incentive since it's a rural area with not much else to do.

Can different species compete against eachother in sports?

For fun? Yes. But professionally? Not usually, but it depends on the species and the sport.

Just imagine a foot race between a troll and a centaur. Or a wrestling match between a human and a roshava...matches like these would be totally unfair. So, professional athletes on Looming Gaia are filtered into a bunch of categories and sub-categories to keep competitions as fair as possible.

For example, say you have a professional martial arts league. Trollish competitors are given their own league for trolls, then among those, male and female trolls get their own separate leagues. A 400lb troll vs. a 700lb troll wouldn't be fair, so the male and female groups are further divided into weight classes.

In the story "Evangelites Skip, Matuzans Sway", the Uekoran king holds a fighting tournament where all species are allowed to compete against eachother. But it turns out the "competition" was all a ruse and the king himself is always destined to win, so it doesn't matter anyway. Weird cases like these are the exception, not the rule.

Is sumo wrestling a thing in Gaia? If so how is it practiced and where did it originate from, and is it maker popular? I imagine heavyweights like trolls, minotaurs and ogres would probably like and excel at this sport.

It's a very popular sport! I don't think it originated in any particular place on Looming Gaia, because I imagine several cultures had their own version of it. Wrestling is possibly the oldest sport in the real world and some version of it can be found in all real-world cultures as well.

As for sumo wrestling specifically, yes, popular with all peoples on Looming Gaia, but especially with heavyweight species. I understand the goal is not to pin the opponent like traditional wrestling, but to knock them out of the ring. Species with natural bulk and dense muscles would really excel at this kind of thing.

The roshava of Koesh are known for their ancient love for wrestling. I could imagine a lot of wrestling-adjacent tournaments happening in this city, including sumo.

Do people on gaia have like Olympic games?

Good question! The answer is yes! But while the real-world Olympics are held in different countries, Looming Gaia Olympics are always traditionally held at the World Athenaeum, which is located in Matuzu Kingdom.

The World Athenaeum compound doesn't necessarily belong to Matuzu Kingdom though, it belongs to every kingdom. It staffs representatives from all over Gaia to make decisions that are compatible with all cultures--or at least as many as possible.

The World Athenaeum has its own massive stadium where the "World Games" are held, which is basically their version of our Olympics. Athletes from all over Looming Gaia come here to compete in different sports.

Trivia: The divine Devajaya both hosts and competes in these games! He competes in a completely different sport every year to prove that he's the best at everything. (He doesn't always take 1st place...but he's working it getting a 1st place trophy from every sport in the world.)
