Post Run-In
((A quick follow-up to this.))
Tess could tell pretty quickly that she’d escaped. Wherever she was, it smelled like clean linen and some of the healers' favorite plants. She smelled slightly garlic-y and almost… minty? She sat up slightly to get a look and immediately regretted it. A sharp pain erupted across her ribcage and she panicked for a moment, sure she’d see a dagger sticking out of her chest.
"You cracked a rib," said a voice from the other side of the… tent? "You also have quite the patchwork of bruises across your back and arms. You’re lucky your skull didn’t crack in half from whatever hit it. And your hands are messy, but functional. You’ll probably have some nasty headaches for the next few weeks, but I can give you something for that. Your rib will heal on its own. Just don’t wrap anything around it and starting tomorrow, take a slow, deep breath and cough a few times every two hours. It’ll hurt, but it has to.”
Tess waited until the healer finished before she spoke. “Did a Leafman named Eudis come through here?” she asked, trying not to brea- Sweet Mother Nature, that hurt!
"The idiot who knocked out his front tooth? He was here last night, long before you. He managed to take out two Boggans before he flew into a branch. He ran back here in a panic. We managed to save his tooth, though," she replied, picking some herbs out of jars.
Tess let out a small groan, pinching the bridge of her nose. The enraged curse at the back of her throat would definitely hurt.
"Enough chatter. More rest," the healer ordered. "I’ll get you up later for something to eat." She left and the dark tent was quiet again.
Tess adjusted herself as much as she could without disturbing something. Just as she was drifting off, she started. Her eyes flashed around the room, but once she calmed down again, she couldn’t recall why she’d panicked in the first place.
One eye open…
