i know you said in the comments of this post that Megatron isn’t that much taller than D-16 (and that Optimus had a growth spurt before he got eeby deebied into the past) but i think there is something to be said for that image. tiny runt of the litter D-16, who’s maybe half the size of his fellow miners, who’s only a head taller than a civilianframe, growing up so big that he towers over even other warframes. i don’t know, i just think there’s something powerful about that.

While absolutely not short now, I can imagine him being the shortest protoform of his group. Needing extra fuel and materials to grow into his mold, which —thankfully for him— was provided by his caretaker.

My worldbuilding headcanon is that, while mostly finished, Cold Constructs still have a growing period. It's extremely brief when compared to the rest of their function, but it's certainly there, and it's necessary to provide everything the protoform needs to successfully complete their growth.

Just wanna say, I’m already Loving that Time Travel Transformers idea you have. Mwah I love TFA ones specifically, mainly cause they have no previous relationship compared to every other iteration.

Just Megatron seeing flashes of the mech he has wants in this Autobot mech called “Optimus” while looking EXACTLY like Orion. Oh boy, Megatron is gonna b me thinking he’s going crazy seeing this mech. It’s Orion…but it’s really not.

Thank you very much for the kind words! They mean so much to me, and I am genuinely surprised to see how many people like the AU. I also want to congratulate you on being the first one to send me an ask with the AU in mind~ After what happens the final time Orion and Megatron meet in the past, his coping mechanisms are not the best, to put it mildly. It's what leads to him not seeing Optimus as Orion. He knows they are the same mech, but his processor blocks out the connection. He doesn't feel more or less malicious towards that mech either. Just another Autobot out of many.

Idk if this was already answered and I missed it but how does the time travel in this au work?

Like when Optimus meets the different version of Megatron is he being shot forward in time at random intervals or is he just going into hiding to avoid messing with the timeline?

The easiest way I'd describe how the time travel works in this AU is that Optimus jumps ahead in time. Because he shattered the Allspark Matrix with the Magnus Hammer, the only thing that can return him to his time are the supercharged Allspark fragments. When he touches them, they create time warps for him to pass through. He can't control to when and where the time warps spit him out, though. The only consistent element is that each jump is further apart from the last one.

Even when Optimus tries to avoid meeting Megatron after a jump, sooner or later, they somehow tend to always find each other.

headcanon: TFA D-16 sounded a lot like Spike from the original cartoon, since they’re both voiced by Corey Burton. Also for the irony that an incarnation of the Autobot’s worst enemy shares a voice with one of their first allies.

Now hold on, you might be onto something with this-

In my humble opinion, the performance that Burton does for Spike in the movie and the third season of G1 would fit D16 better than the one in the first two seasons.

Are you still doing the TFA time travel au? If not that's okay you have other arts you wan to do?

The Time Travel AU is still on! I have plenty of things swirling in my head for the plot, plus a bunch of WIPS that I want to finish! IRL responsibilities made sitting down to draw harder; I have to admit to that, but my head barely stopped buzzing about it. Which is why I've been using the holidays to draw! I have two bigger things cooking on the stove and a very minor announcement planned for the AU! So look out for that, for when it's ready!
