Bookish Asks #12, 14, 30, 35, please
I've actually had this sitting around on my phone for ages but hadn't got around to posting it... Whoops12: Tell one book story or memory (what you were wearing when you were reading something, someone saw you cry in public, you threw a book across the room and broke a window, etc.)Not so much a memory as a story my Dad told me. When I was really young he would read the same stories to me fairly regularly and he'd leave out words for me to fill in. He loved to leave out the complicated ones to see how I tried to pronounce them, one of his favourite words to leave out was 'indignant'.I had a hard time deciding on just one book story/memory...14: Favorite item of book merchStill my Beatrix Potter/Peter Rabbit music box. We've had it for as long as I can remember, and at some point it just sort of migrated to my room. Now it has pride of place on my bookshelf. I love it so much.30: One book everyone should readBecause it's a relatively recent read and it really resonated with me I'm going to say The Humans. It's funny, it's insightful, it isn't afraid to deal with tough subjects and it has a lot of lessons to teach. It's just brilliant. Seriously, go pick up a copy, borrow it from your local library, you won't regret it. 35: What do you think of EbooksI was really snobby about them when they first took off, not gonna lie, but now I think they're great. They're easy to carry around because they can be read on most devices these days, and for big chunky novels that's really handy. I mean there's no way I would have lugged It to work if I hadn't had it on my Kindle app - it would have been impractical. My Kindle has been so good for long holidays too, because you can load so many books onto it and it only weighs something like 100g. I mean that's about half the weight of an average book and I have at least twenty books on there. Ebooks are ace.
