{Anything for You}
Jem was perched on the end of his bed, legs swinging absentmindedly as he waited for those familiar footsteps to cross the hall. William had been acting strangely ever since they’d gotten separated in a patrol and the demon Jem had been fighting disappeared immediately after Will returned.
Like clockwork, Jem heard footsteps creeping down the hall, thirteen minutes later than the last night. Once the echoes quieted down, he slipped out of his room and began to follow his parabatai.
The front door creaked open, the sound echoing around the empty main hallway. Everyone else was already in bed.
Jem peered out of the window to watch for Will’s path before carefully making his way outside. Once he left the gate, he peered around the corner, losing sight of the dark hair.
