Makemo
May 15th, 2017 Asma: Two weeks ago, I was walking with Samy towards the grocery store in Makemo. Suddenly a bunch of children called “Hi Samy!!”. I was very surprised. I asked them “How do you know his name?”. “We met him with his brother Adam and his father on the pier yesterday! And you know what Madam? We even know that your name is Asma, because there is a lady here called Asma and her son called is Sami, too!! They live just next to the store!”. Guess what we did next? We went straight there and on our way, we saw her on a bike. I asked her if she knew where we could find Asma. “Right here! I’m Asma!”, -“Me too, I’m Asma and here is Samy!” ;-) We were supposed to leave the next day, but she insisted that we have dinner all together with her husband, Farid, their 3 kids: Lina (10), Ilyas (8) and Sami (6), and some friends. They are both teachers from Morocco, and lived here for 2 years. We liked each other and Adam insisted on celebrating his birthday (May 10th) with them. Moreover, there was absolutely no wind. Therefore, we stayed two weeks longer than planned. Why not? Our journey is made of flexible decisions and our main motto is “Go with the flow”. Herbert: Still, we have to respect the weather windows and hurricane seasons ;-). Asma&Herbert: Today, the wind is back and we leave Makemo towards Fakarava. Good bye dear friends! Thank you for your hospitality and you big and open hearts! Pictures: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.631299007070812.1073741831.338973092970073&type=1&l=3fa519ab2e
