If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?

@vazaymir asked this too! I could just make something up, buuut- wouldn't it be more fun to just ASK people? I'd find that more fun. Let's do that!

Here are the responses from the people Malika has known the longest. @herowren (Mae):

Mae would prod the suspected-fraudulent-Mal about her full name without giving it, ever, because NO and about STRICTLY FAKE memories that are so anti-Mal or anti-Mae that if it WERE Mal, she'd immediately reject them. Following those, she might prod about their "adoption ceremony" date WHICH MAL DOESN'T -HAVE- TO REMEMBER BECAUSE IT IS ENGRAVED ON THEIR RINGS. If Malika answers with the correct date when she takes off the ring to look or just makes up a date with absolute confidence then it's definitely Mal.

If she either doesn't answer or she answers correctly with absolute confidence without having to take the ring off then it's NOT Mal. Malika: First Sun of the Third Umbral moon. I remember that day like it was yesterday. We stole the shoelaces from every Maelstrom officer's boots and part of your speech to me during the ceremony was about how much you admire and respect me as your elder. (This is all clearly made up- but the shoelaces thing sounds fun) @dumb-hat (Evander) If Evander thought someone was impersonating Malika, he'd probably offer to take them on a very expensive shopping spree, but he'd make sure to mention stuff like how much money he was going to spend, how expensive everything was, stuff like that. If she's impressed by the cost of things or seems greedy, it's not Malika. Malika would rather they spend money on something cheap and fun, then steal the fancy stuff.

But I think he might suspect an impostor and be like "Ah, okay, reverse these values and… Yup. Okay. They think she steals because she wants stuff. Definitely not her. Malika: Ugh. The see if you can agitate me by talking about gil strategy is valid, but uuugh. Quick, We both need to take a drink from an expensive bottle of alcohol and then I need to throw that bottle hard against a wall.

Ok, so my first instinct to the question is that Kes would be oblivious and try to heavily makeout with Malika. And in that process she'd figure out it wasn't her.

Malika: Good detective work there, Kes. Just to be on the safe side, you'd probably better make out with me everytime you see me. You know, just to make sure I'm the real deal.

Argent would ask her to do something, like, anything he can think of right off the bat like "Malika, go steal something off that desk." If she does it without comment, it's not Malika. If she refuses to do it, it's Malika. If she refuses to do it, but then when he leaves or his back is turned DOES do it, it's Malika. Unless he tells her this plan, then if it's really Malika it might be hard to figure out if it's really Malika. Malika: This wouldn't work. Unless it did. But then I'd pretend it didn't anyway. Unless I thought you expected me to pretend that it didn't work in which case I'd.... Uh. I need a drink. Wish I hadn't thrown the bottle against the wall.

Yelena packs her things quietly. He watches her put extra weapons and rations in her bag, sees her carefully count each thing before she puts it in. Just as he taught her.

(He sees her sneak in a few pieces of her candy as well, he pretends that he doesn't.)

"I'll be fine, dad." She says, her back still turned to him. "Just another mission." She says this flippantly, throws it over her shoulder for him to catch only for it to fall at his feet in the dirt. She turns to him, her grey eyes lingering on him, as if to allow him the time to memorize them. "I'll make you proud, don't worry."

Its a joke. A jest. A jab. He knows this. Still, as she passes him on the way out he cannot stop himself from saying, "Always have." And he says it because with her, he is not Patriot. He is not the Captain of the Army Of His Great Duke, he is not the mindless drone who stomped across his own land with no idea of the damage he was causing. He was not the bastard who killed Adam. He is simply Buldrokkas'tee.

And only with her, he is allowed to be proud.

She jabs him with her elbow while shaking her head. She passes him as she goes to Lungmen. After a long moment, after he could no longer hear Yelena's foot steps, he turns to see not Yelena, but Talulah, and the way her smile curves as his eyes land on her remind him of a snake curling around a rat to crush its lungs.

why do you think Paxton decided to kiss Devi during that moment in the car?

There is not necessarily a “logical” reason for the kiss, maybe it was purely physical. 

But for me, this scene was the culmination of Daxton’s relationship in s1. The kiss probably happened because of the mood in the car, the sidelong glances, the confirmation that Devi like Paxton from Fab’s speech and their shared sense of familiarity and safety. Devi let herself be vulnerable with Paxton because she trusts in him. He has been somewhat of a constant in the craziness that is her life. 

Maybe her vulnerability made Paxton realise that she is more than the “weird girl” in his eyes. Sure he was initially there for her because of their unique friendship. But along the way he realised he wanted more. That car scene solidified those feelings, he want to be there for him. He wants her to borrow his clothes. He wants to drive her home. He wants to be his confidant. He want to be more than friends.

hello! would you happen to know any brushes i could use for background? like background noise or tv static. i have no idea what to search for, though. thank you in advance! :)

I think for background noise/tv static, what could help you is experimenting in Medibang Paint with the Noise filter (you will find marker paper texture under there - experiment with the sliders there) and then combining it with Chromatic Aberration filter. As for brushes.... you can search for “firealpaca noise brush” and see if you can find something bigger there.

From Firealpaca/MBP you can also try the Japanese Pattern filter for interesting patterns or from MBP cloud feature (cloud icon in top left menu corner) - you can find interesting patterns from the tiles, tones and other manga materials posted there.

I use the gradient as a quick background myself and combine it with the built-in filters a lot.
