We got smashed today. Can't really believe it. Got in for race one and just didnt have it together. We rowed alright but against last years champs and a bunch of really hot competition it wasn't enough. The next race we got a really rough deep start but still nailed it. I remember taking off from the beach thinking that we were about to kill it...this was about 2 seconds before we collided with the boat next to us and got DQ'd - we rowed out the race anyway and rowed really well to so I guess that was good. The last race was a qualifier to make the elimination rounds. Once again copped a rubbish start and got off the beach last. Rowed so well and we turned equal first. We were killing it in this race and had finally found a rhythm when 2 boats picked a wave from past the gate cans to overtake us on the line. Pretty heart breaking and now we are on our way home. I suppose that today we realised some things. 1. We can match it with the best. But didnt. 2. We need more aggression in our racing. Composure with aggression. This is the fine line which I need to find. I'll let you know when I find it! Peace everyone - next time we speak will be a heaps more positive step toward becoming an asset!
