It was about three in the morning when you were suddenly woken up by the annoyingly high-pitched ringtone of your phone. You seriously had to change that. Your first instinct (and you'd be worried if it wasn't everyone's first instinct) would be to turn off your alarm and throw your phone anywhere far away from your peaceful sleeping form. It was your day off, you had to enjoy it.
But then you noticed Jungkook's warm presence in your bed, wasn't there and his side of the mattress was cold.
JK ❤️ CALLING…
You picked up the phone, as the irritating sound of your ring phone was substituted by Jungkook’s hushed tone.
“Y/n…” he started. There wasn’t a ‘sorry for waking you up' or a simple ‘hey’. He was in panic. Jungkook wasn’t ok, which made you sit up quickly, waiting to hear more of him. “Y/n, I need you to go to my office," you stood up and, in quick, large steps, got inside his dark office. "Beneath the secretary, there’s a key,” he sounded like he was whispering and hiding somewhere. “You’re going to find a big black bag inside the closet I always tell you not to open. Don't check what's inside the bag. Meet me in the dark corner behind the coffee shop near our place, yeah?”
It was the first time Jungkook sounded this desperate. Something had gone wrong and you were sure he wasn’t alright. Jungkook would never involve you in any part of the twisted world he worked in. “Baby, are you-“
“I’ll be waiting. Be as quick as you can.”
And he hung up.
Walking down the dark empty streets near your house, with a big black bag full of weapons, such as guns, knives, and drugs (of course you opened the bag, despite Jungkook's warnings), you saw the coffee shop Jungkook had mentioned from afar. You entered the dark alleyway behind it, catching a glimpse of a manly silhouette.
Jungkook’s face appeared in the dark alley, illuminated by the faint weak light close by. Jungkook had a busted eyebrow and lip and was holding his right shoulder. He approached you, catching the obvious fear on your face.
“Jungkook, what’s happening?” you asked, uneasy, but Jungkook wouldn’t answer, just taking the heavy sack from your hand and kissing your forehead softly.
“Go back home and sleep. Forget this happened, I’ll be home soon, yeah?”
“Fuck no!” you blurted and Jungkook was quick to take his bloody hand, which was previously holding his shoulder, to your mouth, covering it. You widened your eyes in panic, seeing the state he was in. His t-shirt was completely covered in blood on the right side of his torso and the skin on his shoulder looked like it had been cut.
“You’re gonna keep quiet. When I let you go, you don’t say a word and go. home.” he whispered, using the menacing tone he had used on you the day you found out about his sinister occupation. It didn’t really scare you anymore. You learned the worst way that Jungkook would never hurt you, in any circumstance, so Jungkook could use any tone of voice he wanted on you because you wouldn't budge.
You weren’t leaving, but you nodded with his hand still on your face, so he would let you go.
When he took his hand away from your face, it was covered in his blood. You quickly tried to wipe it away with the sleeve of your black sweatshirt. “You’re insane if you think I’m leaving after seeing you’re hurt,” you muttered as your eyes bored into his - your gaze just as threatening as his.
You had learned how to be scary when the time came to it. It could be alarming when Jungkook came home, frustrated, after a bad day at work - he could push anyone away in fear with how dreadful his attitude was in those days, so you learned how to deal with it.
Jungkook sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He knew you wouldn't leave if he didn't explain what was happening to you so he decided to do that. “I thought this would be an easy kill, but apparently the guy is crazy and armed. That’s why I needed this.” he raised the heavy black bag in his hand and you nodded.
“I’ll help you,” you muttered.
“No fucking way, Y/N. Go home,” he argued but you slightly touched his injured, placing your warm hand on his shoulder, which made him hiss and tumble back in pain - which proved your point.
“You’re injured, you can't do anything by yourself in this state - I’m not going home, just to wake up tomorrow morning with Jimin calling to tell me you’re dead!” you yelled and Jungkook sighed, regretting ever calling you and pulling you into this.
You had met Jimin about a month ago. You and Jungkook had had a whole argument about how he knew every single member of your family and all your friends and you didn't know one single person close to him. He did try to make it up to you with amazingly hot sex, but it didn't work - when you two finished you brought up the same issue and Jungkook had no choice but to call Jimin the next morning, asking him to go with the two of you to get breakfast.
"You're making this harder for me Y/N. Just go home, please," he begged but you quickly denied his request, shaking your head. Jungkook stepped away from you, walking anxiously from side to side. When he did, finally, look at you, his eyes were uncertain and you tilted your head to the side, silently asking what he was thinking of.
“What are you wearing under that?” he asked out of nowhere.
“Jungkook, it’s not time for dirty talk!”
“What? - I’m no- Just, what are you wearing Y/N?!” he repeated, frustrated, and you took your sweatshirt off, revealing the tight tank top you were wearing, paired with some short tight jean shorts. Jungkook gave you a once over and approached you, placing a hand on your waist and kissing you - completely ignoring the blood near your mouth, or maybe just unbothered by it - it's not like the guy wasn't used to working with blood, his and other people's.
“Would it make you feel shitty if I asked you to distract him? Don't do anything, just be flirty.” He looked you deep in the eyes and you squeezed his forearm, which was circling your waist.
“What if does something?” he held your body closer to his at that and kissed your lips again.
“I’ll kill him before he does."
You were walking slowly in the dark cold streets, waiting for your target, and you were freezing. The sweatshirt you were wearing, previously covering you from the cold wind of the night, was now stuffed inside Jungkook's bag.
Jungkook was hiding behind some bushes around the area. He had his eyes focused on you and he could see from where he was hiding the way you kept shivering whenever a particularly cold blast of wind passed you by. He had never regretted calling you as much as he did at that moment.
Suddenly, a strange-looking man appeared out of nowhere. Stumbling in the same street you were walking on. He was walking in a zigzag pattern as if he was drunk, but his eyes were scarily focused on every single corner of the street. Jungkook had warned you about him so you were expecting a man in the worst of shapes - but this was another level.
When his scary pair of eyes landed on you, you made sure to look back at him, sending a pretty and flirty smile his way. He seemed to like it, laughing and walking quickly towards you - ou felt like running and screaming out loud - the only thing that prevented you from doing it was the fact that Jungkook was close by and he would never, in a million years, let anything happen to you in front of his own eyes.
So you stayed still, just curling your hair around your finger.
When the man got close enough to talk to you, you noticed his nose was bleeding and Jungkook had managed to leave him in a bad shape, even unarmed.
"What's a pretty thing like you doing in the streets at four in the morning?" the man said in a hushed tone, his eyes still attentive to every dark alley next to you.
"Waiting for a gentleman to take me home, maybe?" you answered, trying to hide the disgust and fear from your tone of voice.
The man stayed quiet for a second, a crepy smile growing on his lips. "Well, it's your lucky day then," he laughed and got close enough for you to feel his heavy breath on your face. "What's your name?"
He was each and each second less focused on the street and more focused on your petite figure in front of him. "Why don't you give it a guess?" you asked back and he brought one of his dirty hands to push a strand of your hair behind your ear.
Suddenly you caught Jungkook's figure appearing from behind the bushes from the corner of your eye but didn't dare focus your gaze on him, in fear the man would notice and catch him. "C'mon beautiful, spit it out..."
It was just before his other hand could rest on your naked waist that you saw the man's head falling along with both his hands. His body fell on top of yours and you saw how there was a trail of blood running down his neck from a deep hole in the back of his head.
Jungkook quickly ran towards you, grabbing his victim's foot and dragging him away from your body. He threw your black sweatshirt back at you, telling you to put it back on.
You were in shock, quickly following his every instruction, even grabbing the dead man's forearms to help Jungkook carry him back into the dark alley you and Jungkook had met before.
It shocked you how this was all coming so naturally to Jungkook as he placed the body down on the harsh ground with force and grabbed his old phone from his pocket to take a picture of the body and send it to the person who had solicited this service.
When Jungkook was done with everything, he looked at you, adjusting the heavy bag on his shoulder. "Let's go home."
"Is he going to stay there? You don't want to put him somewhere else?" you muttered, notoriously nervous and shocked with everything that had happened that night.
"Someone else is going to take care of that," he answered, as gently as he could. Jungkook didn't want to touch you right now after killing a man and being covered in his blood. It wasn't as if you weren't as dirty as he was, as the man had fallen on top of you when Jungkook shot him, but, still, he felt way too dirty to hold you - you deserved better. So he didn't, just signaling with his head for you to start walking.
You were standing under the running water of your shower. Your eyes shut closed and you couldn't do much. Everything that kept playing in your mind was the image of that disgusting man trying to take you home just before dying in your arms. You had carried him away from other people's eyes and left him in the streets to rot.
Jungkook was outside and he acted as if nothing had happened just thirty minutes before. He came home and walked towards the kitchen to get a cup of water, asking you if you wanted one. When you denied it, Jungkook told you to go shower first and you did. It was crazy how nonchalant he was about all of this and the fact that it didn't bother him to slightest left you wondering who, really, was the man you were dating.
How cold did someone have to be to be able to kill without any remorse?
Suddenly, you felt two strong arms, which you knew very well, wrapping around your waist. Jungkook's chin rested on your shoulder and he kissed your neck. "How you doing?" he whispered and you didn't know how to answer that.
How were you supposed to be doing? Why did Jungkook even let you be a part of that, knowing you? Knowing that you are training to become a surgeon and save people, not kill them. "I don't know."
"Are you mad at me?" he asked, grabbing your arm to turn your body towards his, probably sensing your uncertainty towards him by your tone of oice. You faced him. He was way less scary under the lights of the shower, but you could still see the Jungkook you had met a few minutes ago - the Jungkook he was when he did his job was absolutely different from the Jungkook you were dating.
"Why did you let me do that?"
"I told you to go home Y/N! You're the one that decided to stay!" he answered, trying to sound as soft as he could, even when your inquiry had annoyed him to no extent.
"You shouldn't have let me do that!" you yelled, pushing him away, trying to get out of the shower. "Let me go," you said when he held both your arms with his gentle hands to keep you in place.
"I understand that you're in shock, but you're not going to put the blame on me for this Y/N!"
"Jungkook, let me go!" you yelled and Jungkook held you tighter, now pressing your body to his in a familiar embrace. You wanted anything but to be kept in a place you didn't want to be, so you fought, trying to punch his built chest with your closed fists. Jungkook didn't budge, just holding you tighter and tighter each second that you fought back.
So you gave up, letting the tears you had been holding all night fall and run down your cheeks. You rested your head on Jungkook's chest and he placed one of his hands on your hair, massaging the back of your head, trying to calm you down. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, baby..." he muttered against your ear and you placed a soft kiss against the skin of his chest, where your head was placed. "I love you, I'm sorry."
Things with Jungkook had been... sour, these last few days.
After the night you saw Jungkook doing his job things changed - your behavior towards him changed, and he noticed it.
It isn't as if you didn't know what he did, because you did. He had made sure you did and you were with him only because you had chosen to be because if it depended on him, you two would've parted ways a long time ago. But, even knowing what your boyfriend did as his occupation, you were shocked to actually see him doing it. Of course, you had pictured it before, but actually seeing Jungkook kill someone in front of your eyes was a whole another level.
It got you questioning what you were doing with your life. For god's sake, you're the good girl in your group of friends, you have an amazing sister and two great parents, you're about to become a surgical resident and still, you're dating a serial killer.
It was even ironic in your head how you worked to save lives and he killed people every single day.
Another thing that kept on playing over on your mind was the way Jungkook had used you for your body that night. He had offered your body to a dangerous armed man. What kind of man was Jungkook, really?
Jungkook was nothing like you had seen a few nights before - and it got you questioning 'did you really want this life?'
Jungkook was a smart man. He had always been and he always had an advantage over other people for being able to see ahead of time and, many times, predicting what's going on inside their minds. You knew that and you knew that Jungkook knew exactly what was going on inside your mind. It was no big surprise when you got home, after a stressful day at the hospital and he was sitting on the couch waiting for you just to ask "Y/N, tell me what do you want."
"I want to sleep Jungkook," you answered shortly and turned your back on him, just before you felt him turning your body towards him once again, and pushing you towards the wall behind you.
"You're not going to sleep, baby," he whispered against your lips. "I know exactly what you've been thinking these last few days. You think I'm a cold-hearted serial killer that doesn't care about anyone else but himself, right?" Jungkook was angry and he could be scary when he got this way, but you weren't scared of him. You were either a psychopath for not being scared of the angry serial killer you had met the other night, or you were way too innocent to believe Jungkook would ever hurt you in any way because something in your mind kept reminding you that Jungkook would never do that.
"Isn't that what you are?" you asked back, making Jungkook chuckle at your boldness, something new to him - you were never this outspoken when he got angry at you.
"Yeah, that's exactly what I am. That's why I sent you to seduce that man a few nights ago. He could have done anything to you and I wouldn't care," he answered, the poisonous tone of voice he was using on you hitting you right in the heart, but also doing other things. You were unaware of that effect of Jungkook on you.
Suddenly Jungkook felt your lips being hardly pushed against his. You grabbed his neck and jumped to have him quickly grab the underside of your thighs.
Quickly both of your clothes were thrown somewhere in the living room and your ragged breath was mixing with his. Jungkook was rough that night, not sparing you any mercy when his thick grith entered you. You hadn't had sex in a while due to the tense atmosphere that was hovering between you two, so you missed each other - more than you'd like to admit.
It was wild, carnal, almost animalistic. It was quick and harsh. Jungkook had high stamina, not stopping the pace of his hips until you were crying out loud and begging him to stop. Jungkook loved the look on your face as you begged him to go slower - parted lips, blushed cheeks, and watery eyes, boring into his.
When Jungkook stopped, with his face buried on the crook of your neck, still holding you up against the wall - which you were thankful for, both of you knew that if he let you go you'd fall face first of the floor. You weren't prepared to hear Jungkook sobbing a few seconds after you two finished. The big contrast between the manly and strong figure holding you up against the wall and the vulnerability he was putting himself through was now clearer than ever.
You placed a comforting hand on Jungkook's head, playing with his dark locks of hair while still gasping for air after what he had put you through. You shushed him and kissed the skin of his neck affectionately.
"I'm sorry for what happened that night," he whispered against your neck as you kept kissing his. "I never wanted to put you through that, I didn't think you'd want to stay there. I just- I just thought what I told you to do was the safest you could do in all of that, but- but it wasn't, and I-I was so irresponsible... If any-anything had happened to you I wouldn't be able to live with it." Jungkook paused for a few seconds, a sobbing mess already. "I love you and I'm sorry Y/N. I'd kill myself if anything happened to you," he whispered after pulling his head away and locking eyes with you.
"It's alright baby," you whispered back.
Jungkook wasn't the monster you had been painting him to be the last few weeks. He was actually a very sensitive man and he love you. He loved you and you loved him, and that's what mattered to you when you came back to him months ago, and it was still the only thing that mattered to you now.
Yes, Jungkook had shown a completely different part of himself that night, but what now? The side of him you knew and dealt with every day wasn't that one and you were more than happy with the person he had learned to reveal to you. The person he became at work was the person his teammates and victims had to deal with. You weren't his teammate, let alone his victim. You were his partner.
You love him and he loves you and that's all that matters.
