Do you think there is a possibility that Karma is demisexual? he gives me that vibe

Honestly, yes, definitely possible and well, I always thought of Karma as someone who can only see someone romantically if he trusts them enough to open up to them anyway (coughOkudacough).

I imagine that'd be hard though. The character book pretty much spells it out for us that he's super guarded and while he acts friendly and nonchalant, it's both kind of a front and a defense mechanism to hide his wariness of others.

Karma also just seems... content? fulfilled? with focusing on his own goals so he seems like he doesn't even necessarily want (much less need) a SO unless the right person comes along.

Hi! I don't know if this is too late or not but I'd like to ask a question about ac. You mentioned that the studio who adapted ac really butchered it, can I ask why? Also I adore your karmanami rants and I hope to see more ^^

I don’t know if I’ve ever outright said they butchered it but the anime did cut a number of things (some of which were salvaged through the OVAs, though not everything made it). It’s been too long but the way it frames certain things just felt off to me.

And as someone who likes KaruMana, I’ll also be forever bitter that they cut this scene from the anime:

Nope, there are only two. The Character Book (aka "Roll Book Time") and the Illustration Fanbook (Graduation Album Time).

The Character Book was subtitled "Roll Book Time (名簿の時間)" in Japanese. Its official title was "Assassination Classroom Official Character Book: Roll Book Time" so a lot of people ended up calling it Roll Book Time instead of the Character Book. So yeah, the Character Book and Roll Book Time are actually the same book.

Hi I know this is quite late but I had a question for assassination classroom. Are Nagisa and Kayani dating in the graduation album?

Short answer: Officially? No. The only canon pairing in the whole series is Karasuma/Irina. That’s a fact.

Nagisa and Kayano are shown to still hang out as adults in the graduation album judging from the short manga about Nagisa but Matsui is pretty much never going to confirm or deny anything regarding their relationship even though he loves to tease the pairing (see: Korotan D novel).

Hello, nice to meet you! I have done watching Assassination Classroom recently and I think Karma and Okuda are cute, especially Okuda. What do you think about this girl? (She is something plain, faint but I super love her) I found that you're Karumana fan. I know that they don't have many clearly interact in manga and anime, so what do you feel about this couple for first time, when you don't actually ship them? I really want to hear your opinion. Anyway, thanks for reading this message!

Before I started to love the pairing, I thought it was kind of cute that Karma said the girl he’s most interested in is Okuda. A lot of the other Class E guys had really obvious picks like Kanzaki, Yada, Kurahashi, Kayano... And a lot of the reasons the boys gave for picking them were surface level things like their looks.

So when Karma picked Okuda (plain, quiet, doesn’t stand out at all), I thought it was cute that he said he’s interested in her not for her appearance but because she’s good at chemistry and could help with his pranks. It showed us Karma is a bit different from usual teenage boys lol.

Then I saw their Roll Book Time profiles and realized their relationship actually has some nuance to it and it’s really sweet. I was a goner after that.

EDIT: Ah, I forgot to talk about Okuda. I can see exactly why Karma opens up to her so easily - because she’s by far the most honest and innocent person in Class E which makes a fun contrast to how she can make deadly poisons.

What do you think of NagiKae, Sugikan, and Maekano?

I guess you could say I'm pretty neutral on all of them.

For SugiKan, I feel like they’d have to flesh out Sugino’s feelings so that they’re more than just the somewhat shallow attraction he's shown for her in the series - like getting to know her beyond just her being the class idol and being really good at video games. Kanzaki has an interesting dynamic with Sugino since he’s one of the few guys she feels comfortable around without feeling burdened but then Sugino actually likes her too - he's just a genuinely good guy unlike the scum she’s used to seeing.

MaeHina is the old (playboy) jerk with a heart of gold/tsundere pairing. It's like something straight out of a shounen romcom... Like, I dunno. Ranma 1/2? Some love it, some hate it. I think their dynamic plays a little too much to those tropes so I’m not a big fan of it but I don’t mind the pairing.

NagiKae is the weird one for me. I feel like I’ve gotten more and more unfamiliar with them over time. Some writing fumbles for Kayano post-reveal aside, I don’t dislike the pairing like some do. Maybe because I’m just kind of lukewarm on Nagisa, the pairing doesn’t inspire much of a reaction out of me...

Is Karma x Okuda practically canon?

Maybe if Matsui wrote a new manga and created a character whose surname is Akabane and their mom is a scientist while their dad’s a bureaucrat, sure. But who am I kidding, like hell he’d do that.

For better or worse, there is no such thing as “practically” here. You’re either canon or you’re not and the only canon pairing is Karasuma x Irina.

Still, certain ships got more ship tease than others in both the source and supplementary material and Karma x Okuda is definitely one of them.

Or why else would he bother with with that scene in Korotan D... Matsui, you ship teasing troll.

Yes, feel free to translate them. I'm glad you liked them! The KaruMana dynamic is underrated and it’s a shame a lot of the nuance to their relationship is hidden in extra material. People overlook them because they haven’t read the manga or seen the supplementary material. :(

It’s nice to see KaruMana fans still around even years after AC has stopped getting content.
