Final Project Idea
Project Title TT. Trace Your Track
Author Name Bobo Ngai Po Yiu, Janet Choi Ka Man
Description
- aesthetic The ads online usually have similar designs, which are compiled by too much information inside a small box. The extension aims to change the chaos created on the web interface; it is not only blocking the ads, but also giving function information to users.
- conceptual We are tracked throughout every step we do on the internet. When we are looking at the advertisements of Amazon or other online shopping websites, we revealed that products on the ad are recommended according to what we have searched previously, which is the historical user data.
- technical Starting with the references of open source ad blocker, a web browser extension will be produced according to the words collected for recommender system and personalized marketing.
Artist Bio Bobo Ngai and Janet Choi are students from Bachelor of Art and Science in New Media (BAS), School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong.

The Morality of Sitting
- Group member : Choi Ka Man, Janet ; Ngai Po Yiu, Bobo
Sitting down in MTR required great courage, as pictures of you may be captured and uploaded to social media. People may criticize you through a photo and a line of caption from the uploader. Surveillance is everywhere, not by the “big power” but the people.
Background
Since 2009, the corporate had launched a series of “Priority Seats Campaign” to encourage passengers to offer their seats to those in need, especially elderly, disabled, pregnant women and children. In 2010, seats painted in red and featuring happy SmileyRWorld faces on the seat back was first introduced on MTR Urban Line trains.
Last year, people started taking photos of young generation sitting on the priority seat and post onto Facebook forum to judge whether that passenger is qualified for priority seat. This led to wide debate between elder and younger age group. Elder generation proposes that younger one should (or even must) give up their seats as they are younger and less in need. Young generation argues people should not be judged only by their age and outlook as they may have internal sickness. Priority seats campaign is not a rule but stereotype. Therefore, each passengers should be equally qualified to take the seat. This public trial later causes younger people avoid sitting on priority seats or even regular seats to prevent getting in this cyber trial.
Idea
Photos of people sitting on the priority seat in MTR will be taken and posted onto Facebook with all people’s faces and outfit are blocked. People are not able to judge the identity of passenger through their outlook. The passengers filming the others are so superficial that they may not know everything about that “potential targets” who may have their own issues or difficulties, yet the “photographers” take control on exposing the targets’ identities and bringing up public trial; the manipulated pictures then allow people to rethink how they / we are trapped by the stereotypes.

BreakTheRule
Bobo and I tried to do exercise on the ground floor of SCM, which aims to be caught by the security guards in front of us. However, security guards didn’t stop us. Rather, she walks into the security center. Another guard comes out and passed by us, but she also didn’t tell us not to do anything or stop shooting.
Therefore, we tried to go closer to the security center, and finally, the guard told us not to shoot.

#1 The Morality of Sitting

#2 Anonymous on FB - FacelessBook
Having potential pressure on speaking out my thought, I seldom use the social media. A hidden identity may help people to say what they think and see the others’ opinions objectively.
#3 Self-Control
Self-control maybe led by surveillance. Therefore, I would like to set up a camera in my home for a week or more, in order to see if I would forget the “self-control” after a longer time.

is Privacy going to be a bomb? is Privacy a bomb already?
The neck collar which is used for presenting the description of works impressed me the most. Other than the physical control on my neck, my path of browsing in the exhibition is controlled because it has the time control and position control in the design of the neck collar.
As the works clearly declared the concept of surveillance and privacy, I didn’t really have strong feeling as it established a clear control on me. It gives me less mystification. I think the uncertainty is always the most fascinating part, for it urge me to look for the answers, which may not inherently exist.
In fact, I don’t really care about the privacy as it may not imply the sense of money. I care about security more than privacy. I need privacy if my personal information got exposed, and someone may get into my account. I don’t want to lose my money in my bank account. My account does not have much money though.

This work inspired me to the picture of the close-circuit camera to make a simple poster on the question - privacy v.s. security.
Assignment 4 _ 20160224
This is a website in Chinese mostly. the following is the explanation on the changes that I made from the original website - www.hkatv.com - to my version, which is called Achau Television 阿周癲視 Chau’s Crazy Vision .
Asia Television (ATV) is a Hong Kong TV station which is facing a financial problem now. It produced some well-known TV programmes, but in recent years, some incidents happened were quite interesting that raised people to discuss.
In the original design, it works like a slide show. Therefore, I modified all the picture with other contents that seem to be the most “remarkable” of ATV.
10 Most Ridiculous 十大奇聞回顧
This is inspired by a video that I watched on youtube - a collection of footages on some funny incidents.
Ten Brothers 十兄弟
This is a film poster from internet showing the inadequate numbers of celebrities in ATV. Kenneth Chan, the duplicated actor in this poster, was the most famous actor in ATV. “24hours” implies the problem of “replay abuse”.
Loving Hearts Campaign 2016
ATV organized Loving Hearts Campaign annually to praise people who contribute to community and bring out touching stories. Wang Jing, the major investor, was always on the front-line. As the video shown, he even danced to support the company event. Most importantly, investing money on this company requires the strongest boldness undoubtedly. This is the reason why he should get the prize.

The anniversary show was replayed for many times previously because of inadequate production and advertisement.

Shouting A Chau A Chau Together
A song created for 55th Anniversary, a combination of rap and dance. The redundancy in the lyrics. For example, “跟住一齊shout阿周阿周” loops for many times, and the artists tried to be stylish but may not be successful.
