What is reality shifting?
[While not always the case, talks of shifting can sometimes trigger derealization. Tread with care, please]
There are various theories as to the how, but in essence; reality shifting, often shortened to just shifting, is traveling to and experiencing other realities. Including fictional ones
It’s often described as moving or becoming aware of your consciousness in another reality
Shifting and Lucid Dreaming are two entirely separate things. Lucid dreaming is a dream that you’re aware is a dream, that you can sometimes control. Many equate them to the same thing when they, indeed, are not

Basic terminology
Shifters - The term for the people who reality shift
CR/OR - Current reality/original reality, basically it means here. We (/sys) don’t particularly like “original” since you can make any reality your “home-base”, and original feels a little misleading
DR - Desired reality, meaning the reality/realities that you plan/want to go to. In a sentence this may look like; “Oh! I have a DR where I go to UA, I scripted out the traumatic bits though”
WR - Waiting room, a waiting room is just a DR that you go to to fix up your scripts, relax, and generally get a breather before shifting to your DR. These are optional, and many people don’t use them/have one
Clone - While we don’t like the term clone, as it isn’t particularly accurate, it’s the most widely used term and we don’t have any suggestions for a different one. A clone is you when you aren’t here, so to speak. They’re literally just you, you just aren’t experiencing this reality so therefore people dubbed it as a “clone”
Scripting - Scripting is not a necessity, and therefor your scripts can be as detailed or as vague as you’d like. Typically this is writing it down, or typing it, but anything can be used as a script (including an already written book)
Method - A method is a series of steps used to aide in shifting, it is not necessary to use a method to shift
Minishift - This applies to when you shifted for a short period of time (minutes or even seconds), shifted to a reality very similar to your CR by mistake (i.e. a tree is in a different spot than usual, a pattern on your sweater is slightly different, etc.) This is actually shifting, and can/should be used as a motivator for shifters
Theories
The two primary theories are known as the perspective theory and the multiverse theory
The Multiverse Theory
This theory believes that there are infinite realities within the multiverse. In some of these realities; you exist, and shifting is simply a matter of moving your awareness from your consciousness in one reality to another
The Perspective Theory
This theory says that your brain creates the reality that you see/feel, for instance; you see your blanket the way you do because your brain makes you. This theory believes that shifting is just changing how your brain perceives reality around you
Note: we, as a collective, believe in the multiverse theory (as it makes more sense to us), however we don’t shame those who view shifting differently than we do
