Questions about shifting:

1. Are there any guides for learning how to voluntarily shift?

What would a shift where you physically see yourself as your shift type be called? The only thing I can think of for describing it is "physical shifting", but it doesn't sound like experiences that p-shifters have, and I'm just kinda confused about it in general

What is reality shifting?

There are various theories as to the how, but in essence; reality shifting, often shortened to just shifting, is traveling to and experiencing other realities. Including fictional ones

It’s often described as moving or becoming aware of your consciousness in another reality

Shifting and Lucid Dreaming are two entirely separate things. Lucid dreaming is a dream that you’re aware is a dream, that you can sometimes control. Many equate them to the same thing when they, indeed, are not

Basic terminology

Shifters - The term for the people who reality shift

CR/OR - Current reality/original reality, basically it means here. We (/sys) don’t particularly like “original” since you can make any reality your “home-base”, and original feels a little misleading

DR - Desired reality, meaning the reality/realities that you plan/want to go to. In a sentence this may look like; “Oh! I have a DR where I go to UA, I scripted out the traumatic bits though”

WR - Waiting room, a waiting room is just a DR that you go to to fix up your scripts, relax, and generally get a breather before shifting to your DR. These are optional, and many people don’t use them/have one

Clone - While we don’t like the term clone, as it isn’t particularly accurate, it’s the most widely used term and we don’t have any suggestions for a different one. A clone is you when you aren’t here, so to speak. They’re literally just you, you just aren’t experiencing this reality so therefore people dubbed it as a “clone”

Scripting - Scripting is not a necessity, and therefor your scripts can be as detailed or as vague as you’d like. Typically this is writing it down, or typing it, but anything can be used as a script (including an already written book)

Method - A method is a series of steps used to aide in shifting, it is not necessary to use a method to shift

Minishift - This applies to when you shifted for a short period of time (minutes or even seconds), shifted to a reality very similar to your CR by mistake (i.e. a tree is in a different spot than usual, a pattern on your sweater is slightly different, etc.) This is actually shifting, and can/should be used as a motivator for shifters

Theories

The two primary theories are known as the perspective theory and the multiverse theory

The Multiverse Theory

This theory believes that there are infinite realities within the multiverse. In some of these realities; you exist, and shifting is simply a matter of moving your awareness from your consciousness in one reality to another

The Perspective Theory

This theory says that your brain creates the reality that you see/feel, for instance; you see your blanket the way you do because your brain makes you. This theory believes that shifting is just changing how your brain perceives reality around you

Note: we, as a collective, believe in the multiverse theory (as it makes more sense to us), however we don’t shame those who view shifting differently than we do

Quick question if that’s okay! Is it respawning if you cut ties with your CR, but don’t dispose of your body when you shift, or would that be permanent shifting? Sorry, i think I confused myself when I was thinking about it :/

Permanent shifting is when you shift and then stay in your DR. Your ties aren't cut and you can always come back to the CR. (If we mean ties as in life. Some ties can mean your connection emotionally or ties as in your physical life.)

Respawning is when you shift first and then let the body pass through either "natural process" or "other ways." Which cuts ties with the CR.

I've never heard of shifting and cutting ties (unless you mean just not going back.) Which could classify as cutting ties with the CR, but the tie is still there if you're alive! (Which is perfectly okay, you can still stay in your DR for as long as you like! There's no time limit.)

In my personal opinion, no, that isn't Respawning. It's simply "shifting." My reason? You're cutting an emotional tie and not a physical tie. So no, it's not Respawning. Respawning is a forced, purposeful, pre-meditated, and planned disposal of the DR/OR's physical body.

Now there are opinions that since you're staying and cutting ties that means you're Respawning. Which, if we think about this, no that doesn't make sense. When you shift you are going to a new place and technically not consciously aware in your OR/CR. You're also forming a new emotional tie to your DR/WR. Therefore "cutting an emotional or conscious tie" in a way. But we don't classify that as Respawning. And the same goes for permanent shifting.

Your life doesn't end in the CR by permanent shifting, and you can always come back. It depends on the person whether they want to cut an emotional tie.

If it helps, here's definitions I've collected from the communities I've been in and people I've met.

Shifting - Visiting or staying in a DR/WR/TR. This can be any reality. Though most of these groups have different realities they want to visit. This group is widely popular.

╰﹕ ˳⁺੭︰Side Note: This group may be widely popular, but also generally unaware of the subcategories and groups that happened before the shifting term and group was widely known about.

Permanent Shifting (Subcategory of shifting) - A term I use, but haven't seen. I use it since Tumblr is the only website I've seen that associates staying in your DR as Respawning. I do not believe it. Nor does it make sense to me. So I use this term 💖. It means you stay in your DR/WR.

╰﹕ ˳⁺੭︰Side Note: The only time I would think that physical/life force ties are cut is if they didn't script time to be different and they stayed for 100+ years. But I wouldn't classify that as Respawning being that 1) you can prevent this by changing the time difference 2) it can be in no way purposeful as permanent shifting isn't meant to kill your CR body. It simply means staying in your DR without the intent of harming yourself. While Respawning typically has the intent of harming the body after the shift. The difference should be obvious by now, hopefully?

Respawner (Subcategory of shifting) - A term used to describe someone who shifts first and then let's the body pass through natural or other process. It's widely controversial but also another popular group.

╰﹕ ˳⁺੭︰Side Note: Keep in mind, anyone who tells you that Respawning is not shifting first may be unaware of what Respawning is. They shift first and then let the body pass. This is to "make sure they don't come back." THOUGH there are some in the community who believe they can go to another reality if they respawn/cause death without shifting first. There aren't many of them and it's even controversial within the respawn community. (Opinion up ahead) Respawners, also, tend to be more spiritual from what I've seen. There are religious groups within them and/or more spiritual outlooks on Respawning depending on which group you join.

Conscious Dimension/Reality Shifter (Subcategory) - People who believe that certain, some, or all realities have a conscious awareness and are capable of interacting with humans. These people shift to a reality which they are friends with. Some stay, some don't.

Conscious Dimension/Reality Respawner (Also a subcategory) - Same as above, but with Respawning.

Pocket Dimension/Universe/Reality Shifter (Not a subcategory, it's controversial whether it is or not.) - Some people shift to what is called a "Pocket Reality or Universe." Scientifically, then can exist. It's called "A pocket universe or bubble universe is a concept in inflatory theory, proposed by Alan Guth." Some believe they have a conscious, some do not.

╰﹕ ˳⁺੭︰Side Note: These places in our Universe are too small or too easily accessible to be considered a different dimension, but also "controversial" whether it is or isn't. So it's classified as an extra "pocket in space." It's like an "independent section of space-time" within the universe we live in. There are different types and different beliefs for this particular group. Such as the differences between a pocket reality, universe, or dimension. Or whether some of these are accessible.

Reality Creators - Typically, it can go two ways. They are generally people who believe each reality has a conscious, including our CR/OR, and they are able to speak with them or encourage other realities to form. (Opinion ahead.) It's more of a belief, and most speculate they just shifted to a reality where these things happen and they are able to. But then again, there are a lot of sections/beliefs in each term listed here.

✥︎ Understanding Basic Terms

reality : the state of which things exist

alternate reality : a term/synonym used for ‘a parallel universe’ .

cr aka {c}urrent {r}eality : the reality in which one was born into. or the reality that one’s consciousness is used to living in.

dr aka {d}esired {r}eality : the reality one wishes to live in or experience.

clone / alternate self : while your physical self stays in the current reality {cr} your consciousness goes off to the dream reality {dr} as the ‘physical embodiment’ of oneself.

subliminals : are certain music or osts that help one shift in the process as they listen to it. the deeper you are in the process of shifting your subconsciousness and yourself can hear words or affirmations embroidered in the background.

affirmations / manifestations : the process of what one’s self wants to happen or desires to happen in the shift. Can be said out loud or in one’s head.

law of attraction : the certain beliefs/ideas/abilities that whatever happens in the current reality will be passed into the desired reality. a good example is if one feels sad or stressed those feelings would occur as you successfully shift into the dr and the people there will be able to interact/help you solve the situation. In my case what I noticed during the weeks before finals, when I shifted the students of Inarizaki were also studying for finals.

respawning : when one’s self gets harmed, dies, or is done, or feels the need to stop. the consciousness comes back to ones body in the current reality.

script / scripting : usually a vague/slightly detailed description of what one’s self wants to happen when in the dream reality. scripting can include pictures or certain visuals, a short story like a drabble, music or a playlist, affirmations/manifestations. **Though this is completely optional! Because some people can just script as they’re in their shifting process. Some Scripting Examples

affirmations/manifestations : “i will shift to Hogwarts and my name is [one’s desired name in the universe] and i’m the best quidditch player in my Hogwarts house.”

pictures and or visuals : “my dorm room in Haikyuu looks like [inserts pictures/videos].”

short fanfic description / drabble : “Mina Ashido and I are in the UA dorm lobby coming up with a scheme to get rid of Mineta.”

music / playlist : these usually consist of subliminals. be sure when finding subliminals that the author/creator of those subliminals have put a description of what is being said in the videos.
