ASGORE: the section with the heartbreak motif (0:34) follows the burn in despair rhythm; the first bit of the section with the determination motif is also a partial callback

Rude Buster + variants: the beat throughout most of the song sounds like the burn in despair pattern (easier to notice in vapor buster since it's slowed down)

Checker Dance: the drums use the burn in despair pattern; it's most audible when the first pitched instruments kick in and follow the rhythm

Spamton*: it's the rhythm for the second half of each bar. i'm not so sure about this one, but he does have dialogue referencing "burning eyes" so it's still very possible this was intentional

(also, it sounds even more like the burn in despair motif in AIRWAVES when they repeat spamton's motif over and over (minus the half-beat-early start every other bar))

Paradise, Paradise*: this, too, contains burn in despair (...and so does SOUTH OF THE BORDER!!*, but it also sounds like Cool Beat/alarm_titlescreen/something you'd randomly come up with so i'm not sure. it depends on how silly toby felt when composing it)

am I the only one who originally thought that entry 17 was just gaster doing a bad villain impression

his lines sound like someone trying to imitate an evil monologue. except it sounds so fake it just ends up sounding hilarious. and when he says "what do you two think" that's when he turns off the flashlight he's holding under his face and finally turns on the lights

afterwards they all go back to work, except one of them is trying not to laugh for the next five minutes and another wants to punch gaster in the face so bad

okay but what the heaven is up with the mikes and hoarding all the deeplore motifs. first AIRWAVES has the freedom motif, and then the backing track from the chapter 5 sneak peek in the newsletter has the lost girl motif in the second half???

did poisoned pippins accidentally bring them in while collecting evidence for the theory board or something
