holy well, matchmaker
Matchmaker: For an honesty post on what my muse likes about yours.
“He isn’t terrible as an alchemist, he’s just unfocused. Unfocused alchemy means bad alchemy. Diluted elixirs. He’s just so young--when he applies himself, when he’s inspired, he can make truly impressive ones, and his ideas are inventive. He just can’t perform consistently enough to satisfy even a quarter of the demand we have. But he grew on me, and he cleans up nice when he lets me dress him.”
When: August 1st, during the feast
Where: Tara

In retrospect, Jasmine should have seen this coming.
If the intent of the voting was to pair up fey with unresolved sexual tension to watch the fallout--and in Jasmine’s experience, it often was--then Marigold and Forest were an obvious choice. She just hasn’t realized that the rest of the Court was so aware of the nature of their odd friendship. Jasmine had never told a soul that her sister had a crush on Kevin Ives when he was a Player, and she doubted Mari had shared her feelings with many other fey.
But based on how much time they spend together...somebody guessed. Several somebodies, she thought, swirling her spoon through her pea soup. Jasmine had managed to talk to Mari for about a minute after the handfastings, to reassure her that she didn’t have to do anything she didn’t want to do and that they could divorce tomorrow if she wanted. Then Marigold was swallowed by the crowd, caught up with Forest in a group of fey shouting congratulations and lewd remarks, and led to a separate table.
Jasmine had always thought that a Lughnasad marriage to a friend would be fun, although it had never happened to her. Revel in the gifts and congratulations, then divorce in a week, or whenever you got tired of playing newlyweds and jokingly picking out names for your fake children. But could you do that with someone you had actual feelings for? Before today, Jasmine had a hunch that Forest would reciprocate her sister’s feelings, if either of them ever managed to say anything about it. But the pressure of a marriage could make things seem weird, awkward, forced...she could only hope Mari wasn’t freaking out, and that they could talk things over soon.
But maybe they’re rolling with it. You might think of a Lughnasad marriage as thrilling, if you were a romantic sort of person. And Marigold, admittedly, was a romantic sort of person. If there was a book or movie about an arranged marriage to a handsome prince that ended happily ever after, she’d probably read it. That brought to mind images of Forest as the male model on the cover of a romance novel, shirtless and wearing a kilt, and despite all the evening’s uncertainty that was too funny for Jasmine to bear.
She nearly knocked over her mead laughing, and people around her were starting to stare. Jasmine wiped at her eyes. “I’m sorry, my sister just got married. It’s been a weird night.”

- I have mentioned this one to you, but like… they are both close with Lark (or Cam used to be) - her finding out what Aster is doing would lead to a lot of Angst, which can always be a good time?
- More music bonding, maybe Camellia can try to make him listen to more instrumental things, because those are her favorites. Especially with records, because although Cam has a large amount of music on her phone, records are just better. Cue these two looking like Hipster Millennials (or even Gen Z in Cam’s case tbh) even though they are much older, in reality.
- Camellia practically never ever partakes in elixirs, but, before she finds out things, would Aster be able to get her to try one of his own special ones?
- Camellia asking him questions about being a demifey she can’t ask Lark or Gale, because he’s an easier party to ask about these things. He’s important, and he’s valuable, but he’s neither her other half nor her father so there’s not as much stigma (to her) discussing the less appealing sides of it.
- More things to do with how young (for fey) they both are? Aster being someone else to show her different human things?

Gale spared a glance over the ledgers once more before departing his office, intent on finding a specific member of their staff. It didn’t take him very long before he spotted the bartender finishing up behind the bar, mug in hand and one of the more genuine smiles gracing his face. The poor kid was definitely on the younger side of their Court and looked it; all soft features and lack of a shell that remained a pitfall. “Aster, you finishing up? Join me for a beer, I have a couple questions I believe you can have answered for me.”

Gale sympathizes with Aster since they’re both slightly off in the fey world but both belong in their own ways. I’d love to get these two idiots off even just drinking for a night and helping him find a friend
Since the Collector works the machine that is the Rookery and makes sure everything is running smoothly and by the books he’d check in on Aster and help him out where he can, smooth out any kinks. He doesn’t have the gift he does but he learned to hone his to precise details so he’d offer help there
Give him advice on how to get Larkspur to notice him
Basically help this precious boy toughen up so he doesn’t become easy prey for the Seelie
