       The edges of his lips tug into a smile at the comment— something he could definitely agree on. Although, given the circumstances of his job he can’t always allow himself to be this laid-back. It doesn’t mean he can’t find the time for it. Rather, when he’s not in charge of a duty he’d more than likely avoid issues that don’t directly involve him. But he doesn’t always get the choice to strand from them either. And now he’s curious about what kind of life the other is living.

       “Looks like we got somethin’ we both can see eye to eye with. Maybe we should hang more an’ find out what else we got in common.”

He raised his brow. So this was her, this was Hawke. He’d heard little things here and there from Anders but--he never mentioned how tall she was. Sweet Maker, that he did not see coming. 

“If you think the tower’s bad you’d hate the alienages.” It was a light joke, but there was a ring of truth to it. Elves were--small as far as he knew. He’d heard the Dalish could be taller than the ‘flat ears’ he’d grown up around, but he had no examples to speak from. The homes in the alienage had short doorways that even he something struggled to slip under. He’d lived in Lowtown just shy of the alienages but he could swear that everything in his elven friends’ homes was abnormally petite.

Varric has seen babies before, he’s even held a few, but every time he was just so amazed by how small they were. If he were one for dramatics (which he is), he’d call it some sort of parental instinct, but he usually just chalked it up to wonder.

(it wasn’t a fact he let himself linger on too long usually, but he’d like to have a kid of his own one day. it was a thought that was usually brushed aside with fear of doing more harm than good for a child.)

“Luckily she’s just a little nugget still,” he whispered, smiling back at the youngest little Amell who was staring up at him with wide eyes of her own. She made soft gurgling noises as Varric idly bounced her, happy as a clam to just be rocked. Wayu’s grip at his shoulder drew his gaze and he carefully passed Andrea back to her mother. “Picky little girl, huh?” He teased, smile lingering on his features.

As they were in the middle of the hall and people were passing back and forth, Zelda wouldn’t roll her eyes at her brother, but her shoulders rose and fell as she exhaled through her nose, a near equivalent of an eyeroll. 

“Yes, when we were six years old,” she said. Then a small smile bloomed, laughter hiding at the corners of her eyes. “It’s a shame that only one of us has grown up since then... The will of the goddesses is strange.”

Gladiolus breaks into a full sprint, catching Noctis partially around his middle and chest. They were far too close to the edge of a ravine for his liking. The shield holds his breath a moment, eyes clenched tight and half expecting the magitek soldier to kick them over the edge.

When the end doesn’t come, he gives a little look over his shoulder to see that the hit he’d landed was enough to incapacitate the lone unit. “Next time... we bring Prom and Ignis, alright?” he intoned, rolling onto his back with a nervous laugh.

“You okay?” he ventured, dropping an arm over his eyes as he coached his breathing and heart rate back to normal.

🔪 which muse would you most likely be enemies with !!!

I’m having a bit of trouble with the enemy concept (I think it’s silly, in all honesty) but if I had to judge whom I’d get along with the least, the winner would be...

Nylariel!

....which is ironic, because she was my first D&D character and a very exaggerated form of the classic ‘power fantasy self-insert’ at first before she gained more colour as an independent OC. But... man. I would not survive a day in the company of a bigoted smart-ass princess who is used to the world being handed to her and would constantly make me feel like a loser. Maybe after I give her a piece of my mind and she actually learns to take a step back, appreciate the people around her and stops trivializing war crimes we could have some interesting conversations. Don’t get me wrong - Nylariel is not an inherently bad person (let alone a bad character I think). But she has not been given a lot of time or space to grow up from what she used to know and considered normal all her life. And frankly, I wouldn’t have the nerve to deal with her as she is right now.

Next in line would likely be Dilara, as I am a loser at befriending people as is and her distant attitude would make it impossible for me to actually bond with her.

As for the rest of the team, I think depending on the circumstances I could be cool with them all or really put off upon meeting them.
