Liah is someone that is *so* vastly different from Roxanne, their encounter can only be described as fated. However, the further they get to know one another, Roxanne is enamored by both her presence and persistence. Noting her reluctance towards Pokemon battling, Roxanne is most certainly protective of the Lady, and somewhat feels a ‘teacher and pupil’ relationship with her, as for the time being. She is definitely someone the Rock-type specialist deems precious, and Roxanne cannot wait to see how their adventures continue!
Clair already maintains a high position of respect, in Roxanne’s eyes. She admires the ways in which the Dragon master carries herself, seeing traces of her own unrelenting battling behaviors in the way she moves about the field. She is very much the type of woman Roxanne is attracted to, both being as dedicated to their respective fields as one can possibly be. Obviously, they both have issues with gripping defeat, and so would be expected to clash in some way or another. Roxanne is quite stubborn, especially when faced with opposition.
“No, no, there must be something else,” Elise shook her head in disbelief as she read the text on the form that she held too tightly in her hands. “I-I... surely, you have something more suited to my skills?”
The woman at the desk sighed and leaned back in her office chair, taking a sip of her coffee before continuing. The poor woman had a very apparent ‘I’m too old for this’ expression on her face, despite appearing to only be in her early thirties. “For the last time, young lady, this is the only job available for today. Now, you can take it or leave it.”
The young heiress walked out of the temp office with the form in her hand, her shoulders sagging slightly. She had no choice but to accept the job. She was running dangerously low on funds, and had absolutely no idea how to survive without money.
A short walk from town brought her to her destination: Paniola Ranch.
The smell of livestock drifted into her senses as she approached the farmhouse at the end of the dirt road; not particularly bad, but certainly a strong scent to those who weren’t accustomed to it. She approached the red wooden door and knocked, mentally reminding herself that she only had to survive the day.
“Good morning, my name is Elise. The temp agency sent me,” she announced herself politely as she handed over the neatly folded form that she had received from the agency. The man who had answered the door, dressed very practically in denim overalls over a cotton shirt, skimmed over the papers before returning his gaze to the girl in the doorway.
“I hope you’re stronger than ya look, miss,” he said, before stepping around her and closing the door behind him. “You can call me Dave. I’m glad ya showed up, the other temp girl who showed up earlier would’a had ‘er hands full, on her own.”
Elise followed along silently has Dave led her over to a barn, where she would apparently meet the other temp worker. The man prattled on about the duties expected of them, emphasizing the need for care and attention to detail, especially around the animals.
“Here we are,” the man announced as they reached the barn. “The other girl is already workin’, probably still feedin’ the Mudsdale. I’ll be in the northern pasture if you need me for anything.” He pointed in the direction of north, indicating where he could be found, presumably, if anything went wrong.
“Thank you, I’ll do my best,” Elise promised with the most convincing smile she could muster. The two parted ways and Elise entered the barn, shocked to see that it looked much bigger on the inside. There were a dozen stalls; six on each side, each occupied by a towering equine Pokemon.
“Hello?” she called, still looking wide-eyed at the Mudsdale closest to her. She had never seen one in person before, and hadn’t realized just how massive they truly were.
