“FANDOM IS A LEGITIMATE HOBBY”
Actually, new comment. You are studying and participating in popular culture. SO FUCKING THERE.
I KNOW! kate!!! <3 <3 <3
actually, i’m not so enraged as all that.
i love my family and their delicious massaged kale salads and their hand knit winter caps and fabulous, homemade, hand-engraved cutting boards and their hilarious plays. i even enjoy trekking around 5K courses for photographs of them mid-run and trying to spot faraway shorebirds using binoculars.
and because i love them and their hobbies I want them to know what ~I~ love. and one of the things i love best is fandom. :(
(and, because i’m a competitive dickward just like them, i also want them to know that i’m amazing at it.)

Yeah, I mean even our agreement with Borderlands is pimpage for pimpage. No indiegogo perks, just 'will you spread the word?' 'sure if you mention us'
That's about the size of it

Lol, but I’m sure you’re going to talk to people for donations eventually. If not money, asking companies to donate.
As we are a very small, first-year con, we haven't considered corporate sponsorship as of yet. We have no reason to right a policy or consider logistics yet as we have no sponsorship offers as of yet. We've made a budget and are going to be funding the con on ticket sales and an indiegogo. All perks from said indiegogo are either being bought from or donated by individual artists, not corporations.

…the pirgs use canvassers and scripts. I worked for them for a while I can probably help write a script and train… But I’m not doing any calling (hate phones)
That is correct! However, we're more talking about a donation button on the website then canvassing. Canvassing the fandom for donations would be impractical. and inefficient. For everyone involved.
@markct
I'm sorry I failed at seeing you in Maryland before you left, but now I have two reasons to visit MICHIGAN. (Also: not sure why that was all caps; my phone has a mind of its own and it's funny so I kept it.) Next summer?
