Getting the good ending in Welcome, Dear Human on my first run was a pleasant relief once I saw there was a “bad ending” and a neutral(?) one thereafter. That game is seriously adorable, I can’t wait to see it’s completion. A couple of moments did give me a jump lmao, like when you’re inspecting the creature’s figure, I thought I’d give his tummy a poke just to be a goof and poked too low. Legit felt bad because I didn’t mean for that, but then I gave a pause and went “Why mad? You got no kibbles’n’bits, hon.” Lmfao

After watching a few playthroughs beyond my own, I’m glad as hell I didn’t poke the poor thing in the face cuz I vanished like he did when you flush the pot in game.

Either way, I didn’t try for a belly poke again. I do like the subtle show of personality coming out, the jealousy of the fridge, the small cheeky smile while sitting in the tub when he says he hides under the bathroom counter unit, the look you get when you try to mimic his pose in the office, hiding his face when you commend him for fitting in the nightstand, the happy wiggle when you laugh at his calling himself an origami.

I think an adorable surprise behavior if ever a physical interaction were to happen (like when you examine him at his permission first time) again, would be him giving an inquiry if you inspected his upper arm/bicep area for longer than three/five seconds. With that inquiry there’s a brief flex of the arm to say “yes, I’m quite strong 💪” and again a faintly smug smile while looking at the player. A look that could read as a show of confidence or flirty “you like what you see?”

In a more romantic route it’d also be adorable and interesting to see the player be given the option to place a kiss on his cheek, not necessarily in an intentionally intimate setting but like working at the desk and he peers over to see what you’re working on and it’s late as hell. Like an “Oh hello, dear! I’m almost done… *smooch*” Or maybe you’re awkwardly asked for one at another point? I’m unsure if it’ll teeter around PG or get more mature with insinuations/visuals but I’m a-okay with either because it’s awesome.

At the end I gave him the name “Corbin” cuz I wanted something with meaning… and it fit for me, too.

While I would love an end update to minecraft (having a whole dimension’s worth of new stuff to play with would be cool obv), not only is the community really weirdly entitled about it considering it’s an update that was never promised or really expected so mojang’s under no obligation, i feel a large end update fleshing out the dimension that much would be antithetical to both the game and the dimension itself

Minecraft is, yknow, an infinite sandbox game. You do what you want when you want however you want to and can figure out how to. The idea of a focus on linear progression and a definitive end is kinda against the point. Apparently they originally weren’t planning on adding it but did anyway, presumably to have some semblance of a possible end goal.

As for the End itself, I feel it’s kinda in a good place as it is in the role it’s made for, both thematically and gameplay-wise. It is The End of the world, The End of the game. Thematically, it being a desolate and eldritch void fits a lot better than something like they did with the nether, where they filled it with life. The End’s not some vibrant dimension with its own full story. It’s where the world… ends. Beyond the final frontier. Fittingly empty and barren. Gameplay-wise, well. It’s the end. An arena to fight the final challenge, and after that, a reward for your troubles if you’re willing to fight a little more that’ll help you with your world as you go back to it and keep exploring. It’d be kinda weird, imo, for a place called The End, meant to be the end of the game, to have too much of the game within it.

The human I would play as developed as a character I’ve shaped out as a 22yo college student named Kirby Kinley.

After moving to a slightly larger apartment with Corbin because of a significant promotion at her job, she continues to study environmental and figure art, working on her oil painting skills when she has the time, attending photography classes, and comfortably has a discreet though romantic relationship with the demon who’s followed her for approx four months. She’s scatterbrained, gets frustrated with herself easily, wild-humored with a loud laugh (think Danny from Game Grumps), worrisome, overthinks, and hesitant to show any vulnerability so she hides it from nearly everyone.

The young woman that occupies the workplace near where Kirby attends. Working as a hotel clerk, she also is a fellow student, though they generally attend different classes, both attend Photogrammetry sessions depending on the field of interest which sometimes overlap. A 24yo name Marlee Reede, she too is followed by a paralysis demon, except this one doesn’t just reside in her residence.

Initial introduction will have her appear to be very toned down, moody, edgy even. She starts as being more the withdrawn and serious which is intimidating but with time, once the ice is broken it’s revealed she’s quite soft-hearted but quick to get fed-up if she sometimes deems the creature that follows her to be unreasonable, will roughhouse play to those she’s very bonded with, and is fast to see situations as consequential. Marlee does openly reveal that she knows of Corbin after a class one day, and asks to see him since she too is followed by a paralysis demon and she’s curious if he’s different, revealing that the demon who lurks informed her when sensing his ‘claim.’

As for the creature that follows her, he is given the name “Floyd”, and he lurks in her shadow as a dematerialized form and isn’t as subdued as Corbin. He isn’t bombastic in any sense but he is forward, prone to brooding, possessive, handsy, and isn’t one to really be dissuaded once he sets his mind to something. Grabbing Marlee in a flash and pinning her if she does something reckless he doesn’t approve of? Yeah. Absorbing someone who harassed her despite her screaming and beating on his torso for him to stop? Yeah. Hardly ever does her show of intense emotion warrant him doing as she pleads.

He isn’t as strong as Corbin and appears “younger” than, a bit smaller too, and because of that, he does respectfully yield when Marlee visits Kirby’s apartment upon realizing they have some similar interests and both are followed. He avoids Kirby because he senses (or ‘smells’) Corbin’s presence attached to her, but if he feels Corbin is threatening to Marlee (though he really doesn’t, Marlee expresses anxiousness at how imposing he is when he does show himself) he might try to stand up to him. He might not openly show he cares for her, but obviously does very deeply. He can be ridiculous especially if witnessing flirting, and will sometimes manifest behind the determined encroacher and threaten to eat them whole.

Floyd has no interest at all in Kirby, he avoids her as he doesn’t want conflict, nor to give the wrong impression, usually he waits in the hall somewhere away from light, if Marlee visits. He is more well-versed in human slang, biology, and current on several traditional aspects and cultural norms, as he’s known Marlee for a very long time at that point.

I theorize somewhat that the lifeforms in the Backrooms function as sentinels or a form of compliment system, and the reason for the high aggression is from the dimension itself attempting to purge humans from it’s existence, even those who unwillingly fall in. Maybe it can’t get rid us because it doesn’t know how to? It’s heavily theorized that the dimension itself is alive, which makes some sense when you look at certain scenarios. Like the Nullzone present in FF3, it almost looks like a fucking trap and Ravi just waltzes on in. Or is it the result of bleed over and outside of it’s control as the plains cross. Another thing I wonder is, are the lifeforms and moreover the Still Life, the Backrooms attempting to manifest itself as a direct means to communicate or get rid of us and keep us from invading? Will the aggression ramp up? All the construction from ASYNC, the drilling in the floor, cutting out the lights, etc, a source of pain or irritation?

The sudden influx of TFC questions are hilarious but oh well, I’ll post about my guy when ready, things went to shit lately and it doesn’t help.
