Vexx, the Southern Alchemist
This is my Valorant OC, so if you aren't interested in Valorant... too bad. (also the layout of this is inspired by @flooficandii 's OC Nuniq, sooo go check them out)
A master alchemist hailing from the American South, Vexx uses his various brews to send the enemy lines into disarray before moving to boost his allies and help them go in for the kill.
As the bio implies, he's a southern alchemist Initiator who's main purpose is to fuck with the enemy lines, scattering and deflecting them and stuff like that, pushing and pulling them away from their "goal" (defusing spike, planting spike, defending site, getting kills, etc.), and then boosting his teammates so they can take advantage of the chaos. Very area control/denial centered Initiator, like Breach.
i chose southern because das me :)
update: he has askblog now @lead-to-radianite
abilities lore and more under the cut:
Callsign: Vexx
Codename: Brewery
Real Name: Percy Davenport
Role: Initiator
The 32 year old South Carolinian is a chemical engineer who previously worked part-time at a brewery in Louisiana owned by Kingdom (if they own a coffee shop and a cola manufacturer, they can own a brewery). He then started work on an experiment which resulted in a breakthrough, causing Kingdom to hire him full-time as a chemical engineer. Soon after, though, he started discovering corruption in Kingdom, and learned he and his coworkers were being used, resulting in him running with his research, equipment, and creations.
Timeline
2039: First Light, Vexx is 21.
2039~2040: Kingdom is founded and has its big boom with Radianite and Radianite tech, resulting in expansion; Vexx gets work at a newly opened Kingdom brewery
2042: Vexx learns more about Radianite and begins working on a personal chemistry project involving Radianite. Later that same year, he finishes it, creating a solution with Radianite that was a base for an alchemy-like process that could be used to transmute substances and create various magic potion-esque concoctions he labeled "brew". Swiftly afterwards, he was hired full-time by Kingdom when they caught wind of his work and he started working for them as a chemist.
2043-2046: Vexx continues his work both as a Kingdom chemist and on his brews, developing the alchemical process. He slowly climbs the ranks of Kingdom, and in doing so learned of the corruption and greed of the corporation. Having second thoughts about working there but being stuck due to how far in he was, he bided his time and perfected his skill with alchemy.
Late 2046: He learned more and more details of the mass corruption in Kingdom— all the greed, the unethical or downright illegal practices, the manipulation, the ecological damage all being swept under the rug —until he learned the last straw for him: his coworkers' and his work was being used by Kingdom for... terrible purposes, to put it simply. He took as much of his work as he could— his research, gear, and brews —as well as some Radianite, destroyed what he couldn't take with him, and ran.
2047-2048: Kingdom was now relentlessly hunting him down, and he was on the run, hopping between hotels and crashing on friend's couches, even sleeping on the street, all while working on advancing alchemy and creating more brew. The brews he was creating most often were ones made to screw with Kingdom's advances and push them away, as well as one that made him faster, and as a result he managed to perfect them and make them more efficient over time.
2049: At this point, Vexx has managed to (mostly) throw Kingdom off his trail, creating a mobile brewery with some gear and some Radianite in order to help him quickly create brews on the go. He planned to have finally taken a break, but the VALORANT Protocol has other ideas, as they've learned of his skills (and how he pretty much invented a modern form of alchemy) and want to make a deal: He fights for them, they provide him with funding, supplies, a laboratory to work in, and protection from Kingdom, should he need it. He accepts.
Abilities
Debuff - Slick Residue
Slick Residue is a debuff that makes a target's movement slipperier, as well as adding a blur/gradient to any affected player's screen. It starts off fairly weak, but gets more intense if a player takes damage while affected, scaling with the amount of damage they take and capping off at 50 damage.
Passive - Brewed Up
“The first ability charge you buy each round is free. That ability becomes your signature for the round, recharging with time.”
Self-explanatory, the first ability you buy each round is free and recharges on a cooldown during that round.
C - Blast Adhesive (2 charges)
"EQUIP a ball of adhesive brew. FIRE to throw the ball, which sticks to any surface it hits. The brew explodes after a short period of time, damaging nearby players, applying Slick Residue, and creating a lingering zone of damage that applies Slick Residue. If MOBILE BREWERY is active, FIRE will launch a blast of adhesive which travels faster and has a larger AOE. ALT FIRE to add up to two bounces to the ball."
Vexx equips, and then chucks, a flask of red brew that sticks to any surface it touches and then explodes after a couple seconds, leaving a lingering zone of damage for another couple seconds. Essentially if you combined a Raze satchel (without the knockback) and a molly. Also, Slick Residue, applied by both the explosion and the molly. Alt-fire lets you add bounces to the ball for funny line ups.
Q - Thunderclap (1 charge)
"EQUIP a flask full of brew. FIRE to throw it out, creating a lingering zone that slows the rate of fire of enemy players within and applies Slick Residue. If MOBILE BREWERY is active, FIRE will launch a blast of brew which travels faster and has a larger AOE. A hit confirm will be played if an enemy is within the area upon landing."
Vexx equips, and then chucks, a flask full of brew that shatters on contact with a surface and makes a large lingering zone that slows firing speed and applies Slick Residue. If someone is inside the area when it shatters, a sound will play and Vexx will give a callout, the sound and callout changing depending on if one or multiple enemies are within.
E - Boost Bottle (2 charges)
"EQUIP a jar of brew. FIRE while your crosshairs are over an ally to temporarily boost their movement speed. ALTERNATE FIRE to smash the bottle, boosting all nearby allies, including yourself, and applying Slick Residue to all nearby enemies. As long as the boost is active, hits will apply Slick Residue. If MOBILE BREWERY is active, FIRE and ALT FIRE will launch a blast of brew at the target or at the floor, respectively. If MOBILE BREWERY is active, ALT FIRE will have a larger AOE."
Vexx equips a jar of orange brew. Fire to boost an allies movement speed. Alt-fire to smash the jar, splashing everyone nearby and applying the boost to allies and Slick Residue to enemies. It lasts 5 seconds with fire and 3 seconds with alt-fire, and boosts speed 20%. Additionally, as long as the boost is active, each shot hit applies Slick Residue.
X (Ultimate) - Mobile Brewery (7 points)
"ACTIVATE a mobile brewery that provides 1 temporary charge of all of your abilities (replenishing a used charge or giving you an extra charge if you have max charges) and makes them equip and unequip faster, and EQUIP a brew hose connected to the brewery. FIRE launches a spray of brew that deals damage in a wide area in front of you, lingers for a moment, and applies Slick Residue. HOLD FIRE to continually spray brew."
Vexx activates a mobile brewery that has multiple different effects:
It replenishes 1 temporary charge of all of his abilities which go away when the ult ends, if the abilities haven't been used by that time.
He equips a brew hose, which is pretty much a flamethrower (Limited range but wide spread, "full-auto" damage, the closer to the hose to smaller but the more damage, and, to top it off, it applies Slick Residue).
As long as he has the ult active, his abilities are replaced by blasts of the respective brew, making Blast Adhesive and Thunderclap travel faster (but not change trajectory), all three have larger AOEs (Blast Adhesive’s explosion and molly, Thunderclap’s AOE, and Boost Bottle’s alt-fire splash radius), and all three equip, unequip, and re-equip faster, including after the ability is cast when he's re-equipping his weapon.
Extras
He uses an extreme amount of contractions and slang, mostly because that's just how he speaks but also to annoy the others :) (For example, he uses plenty of "y'all"s and "ain't"s but when he's feeling annoying or annoyed he casually inserts a "y'all'dn't've" or even a "y'all'd've'f'i'd've"/"i'd've'f'y'all'd've" into a conversation. And no, I will not be explaining what those mean.)
Related to the previous one, he's the only one that can really manage to say the ridiculous contractions well, or correctly in general.
Despite brewing things and originally working in a brewery (and being southern), he dislikes most beers. Wine's fine, though, and so are most "hard" drinks.
Used to work with Viper, back when they were in Kingdom.
He does some tinkering with Raze, Killjoy, and Cypher, and some chemistry with Viper
He hates Reyna. Just plain and simple, "fuck her, I want that woman's head."
Sometimes he sees the Kingdom logo on Brim's pauldron and has a mini heart attack, before realizing "Oh no, he's cool. I think."
His favorite food is crawfish, but whenever he has it from somewhere that isn't the deep southern area (like the state he's lived in for most of his adult life Louisiana) he's always disappointed. As a result, he usually just gets some delivered.
He is fairly tall. On the height chart he'd be barely over Sova.
Annoying to his enemies, annoying to his allies. Not to the same degree, of course, but he's a bit of a gremlin.
Cautious, you can guess why.
Great bartender lol.
Card game savant, wins most of the time whenever he plays poker or blackjack.
His lab/brewery in the VP HQ has the constant smell of bourbon and smoke. There’s also a faint hint of rubbing alcohol and glue due to all the chemicals.
Confidence isn’t exactly entirely genuine.
