#Repost @colvinology Spooky Kriek, a Flemish style pale sour from Barrel + Beam (@barrelandbeam) finished on Michigan Montmorency Cherries, and the Metal Build Astray Red Frame Kai  . Aromas of sour cherries, oak, and a bit of tobacco. it has that "cigar humidor" aroma that I really enjoy, and reminds me a bit of Consecration from Russian River. The sip is bright and juicy, leaning much more heavily into sour cherry, with that oak returning right towards the end to finish things off. Those more musky, earthy, tobacco notes appear towards the end too, but they're ultimately washed away by a really nice, slightly sour, lingering cherry juice flavor. This one is light, fresh, and honestly kind of addictive. I've had it before, and I'm honestly not sure if I've done a review already, but it was in my fridge and it's delicious so I wanted to drink it. I also know I did a Barrel + Beam beer last week but...well, see my previous sentence 😂. Shoutout to Barrel + Beam, who make some of the most consistently enjoyable sours in the state of Michigan. I'm gonna chug the rest of this 😂. #Repost @colvinology Crimson, an 11.2% bourbon barrel aged Flanders red ale from Upland Brewing (@uplandbrewco), and the Metal Build Astray Red Frame Kai (Alternative Strike Version) . little whiffs of bourbon and oak, accompanied by an absolute ton of cherry, plum, and date aromas, and a bit of tobacco towards the end. The sip follows prettty closely, but there's more bourbon here than in the nose. It hits first, followed immediately by a nice dose of sour cherry and date, along with a bit of oak. The finish is very largely bourbon barrel, with an aftertaste of spirits, some tobacco notes, and a nice boozy warmth in the back of the throat. This is much more of a "sip with a cigar" than a "drink on the back patio" kind of brew. It makes me want to replace everything in my office with full grain leather and buy a velvet smoking jacket. It's sophisticated, but I also think it would be accessible to people who don't quite *love* bourbon. It's spectacular, but did I buy this because the label matches the Astray? Do you even have to ask? 😂 . Oh and, this Metal Build? Amazing. The joints are a bit tight and some of the weapon transformations border on moon logic, but after building a couple MG Astrays, this is the superior 1/100 version. Shout-out to everyone who told me to drop an insane amount of money on a Metal Build...because I also preordered another one. Oh, and to answer that poll, it actually CAN hold the Turn Red's swords...the problem is that they're so bulky, almost no pose with them off the ground looks cool 😂. Can't win em all, right? Feeling rubbish so have spent the morning watching @tabletoptactics and getting this 1/144 HG Gundam Astray Red Frame with Flight Unit completed. Another fun build - I’ve already got a small squad of regular Astrays, and am pretty sure I’ve built the standard Red Frame before, but they never get old. Just the right balance of complexity and intuitiveness to the build if you just want to zone out. For this build I’ve used the included stickers for the sensors, as well as on the biceps and wings where they are supposed to be white. One change though, I opted not to use stickers on the sword & scabbard, instead trotting out the Gundam Metallic Marker set. This was more to have a mess around than anything else, seeing how they applied over bare plastic or other metallics, and overall I’m fairly impressed. I could probably do with cleaning up where there was overspill a bit more (I just used a knife & file to scrape any overspill away once it had dried), but I dig it. HG 1/144 Gundam Astray Red Frame
