How many moons does Mars have?
Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. Those moons are thought to be captured asteroids. They were both discovered by Asaph Hall in 1877, and named after the mythological characters. Phobos (panic/fear) and Deimos (terror/dread) from Greek mythology. Their father is Ares, the god of war, (Roman name Mars), and they accompany their father in wars.
