“I think the house is spinning.”
Next To Normal Ask Meme: Send Me One To See How My Muse Will React
"No, you're just dizzy," Erik murmured laying her down on the couch. "Just lay still a while. I'm going to get you a cup of tea and something to eat. Ok?"
spooky
The silhouette of something large, implied to be hairy, and loudly howling in the topmost window had been impressive, Erik could admit that much. From the outside, it looked normal enough for this time of the year. Pumpkins and adorably cut out tombstones sprawled throughout the front yard, Raven had insisted on this one.
She had an edge on this holiday and Erik could scarcely deny her the treat of it, when she seemed to get such a kick out of thinking up a new disguise to wander out in.
But haunted houses, really.
Too late to turn back now, they were handed flashlights and instructed to follow the arrows on the floor, drawn in something that only made them visible under ultraviolet light, as from the flashlights. At least the people runing it seemed to put in some effort. Arrows aside and a few sparse plastic Jack o' Lanterns, the rest of the house was almost enitrely in the dark.
Raven shrieked and Erik jumped when the first hairy-masked jackass jumped at them from behind the wall of drapery that lined the path. Erik mumbled curses the rest of the way, guard instantly shooting up until it was really only Raven reacting any more. At least five more times this happened, each room having a different much more carefully chosen hiding spot for the would be werewolves to hop out of and howl at them from.
Then the curious thing happened. The arrows forked. One set seemed to be leading up stairs, the other towards another room, from which could be heard the sounds of others that had been ahead, already squealing with delight at how terrifying the wolves had been. The end, to be asumed.
Raven looked to Erik. Erik looked back, breathing deeply and nodding as her face split into a wide grin of glittery joy. Without another word, they bounded up the stairs.
They passed the first section, full of creaking floorboards and a drafts causing one of the curtain-walls to billow ominously. But Erik didn't sense anything lurking in the shadows and nothing jumped. The lack of anything diving at him left a sense of dread, goosebumps following the breeze's touch on the back of his neck. Raven did not seem any better off, now with an arm linked in his as they entered the next, a room with deep crimson lighting and several haphazrd puddles of something dark on the floor. Erik thought he smelled fruit punch as said as much, laughing along with Raven to break the sudden tension that had come over them with all the whining from the floor beneath their feet and the obvious recording of something scratcing against walls.
The door slammed shut behind them, they both jumped.
The red light washed over ripped shreds of flannel and wet patches of fur sticking together. Erik, already somewhat irritated, began on a tangent of swears and threats, striding closer.
When he was close enough to notice that the mask looked awfully well-made was about the same time he noted how even in the red illumination, those eyes looked very real. Then the snout twitched with hot breath and his face dropped.
Needless to say, after all was said and done, there was a shattered second-story window, furry limbs on the front lawn, and several scarred for life young trick or treaters screaming in very real horror as Raven and Erik sashayed away with Raven's arms loaded with other people's candy bags.
"Please, don’t leave me. I’ve never wanted to give love a try until now." { put two together bc it felt necessary hello }
Erik stopped at the door, suitcase still in hand.
"Are you sure?" he asked. "I love you Raven, with all of my heart and I don't want to keep hurting you, but I'm tired of getting hurt. If you truly want me to stay I will."
