Lagos, Nigeria artist Phlow brings her recently released EP, the great Asuai (Vol. 2), to life with a striking new video that takes the viewer through the lives and thoughts of four unique characters. The EP’s four tracks, which are brilliantly produced by Montreal’s Dr. Mad, lay the groundwork for Phlow to showcase her acting chops as she works through the raw emotions within her lyrics. And it’s all seen through the always-sharp lens of XYZ (for Str8Buttah Productions), who directed the visuals and captured the tone of each track. Essentially, the video finds Phlow taking on the role of the four narrators on the EP, including naive Stephanie, cynical Asuai, nonchalant Phlow, and her teacher incarnate, the mature Ms. Eyime. And whether you’re familiar with Phlow’s previous work or have had Asuai (Vol. 2) on repeat since September, this is another opportunity to get even more familiar with one of Hip-Hop’s most burgeoning talents.
