i really hope so too!! or you know just queer in general i'd be satisfied either way honestly.

(but actually since cullen is an LI and  i am pretty sure that if anyone will be a straight option, it's him, and i doubt they'll have more than one of each sexuality, i am mostly confident that the currently unnanounced male LIs will be queer. this of course is assuming he is an LI they can make him bi without making him an LI and i would be sad but accept it)

and i also kind of secretly hope they will make references to dorian gray the book because the name dorian has a very very strong association with it and i think it's what a pretty large amount of people think of when they hear the name. and plus references would just make me really really happy and yeah

Btw dana what do you think about that in the game pretty much every mage who is not ur companion turns into an abomination as far as i remember like i do believe the narrative is at least partly responsible for the anti-mage mentality of the fans and even though i'm as much of a mage fan as you can get but lbr in a way they are right

for all the cases we had where the mage was presented as a violent murderous one-dimensional villain to fight, and for all the unsympathetic cases, i think the vast majority of mages who turned into abominations did so as some sort of reaction to their opression, whether direct or indirect-- the circle mages in origins, aside of uldred were all pushed into it. they were convinced that if they stand up and fight they will be free and the turning into an abomination was a domino effect result of that. thrask's daughter was also pushed into a corner and turned into one as an indirect result that she was about to be captured and probably killed. grace was clearly meant to be unsympathetic but she, as well, was pushed into it as a domino effect result of just wanting to be free. all the mages we heard about in act 3 in da2, both the ones who weren't seen and those who were, turned into abominations because they were driven into a corner. because they were pushed into it. by the templars themselves.

i am quite sure there are other examples of such cases through the game and some that are not specifically turning into abominations and more just being driven to desperate measures. but these are pretty huge and important examples. i just... you can't look at mages who turn into abominations because the templars themselves push them into it and ignore that, and just look at this plain fact and use it as proof that the chantry is right about the mages. (i don't mean you, specifically, i mean a general you towards specific pro-templar claims, haha)

no matter what the mages do, they can't win. they try to go along with the system, they suffer and have their basic rights as people deprived from them. they have no obligation to go along with that system and just accept that. sure, if they're skilled, talented, and lucky enough they don't have to suffer any of the worst parts but they're still dehumanized and deprived of their freedom. if they try to fight for those basic human rights, nothing they do succeds until they're pushed into desperation, and then the fact that they were forced into despration is used to justify the opression. that everyone obsesses over the fact that they turned to blood magic and not thinking for a moment why they did it, as if their reasons for doing something become utterly irrelevant the moment they cross a line in people's eyes, is a huge part of what keeps their opression going. this is like, some really shitty underhanded manipulative shit the chantry is pulling off to keep the mages on a leash. that is what's happening here. why is this so hard to see? i don't get it.
