YES THE NICKNAMES. I love otps that nickname each other!! Imagine Sophie trying to nickname him back! But I also love how clearly smitten Asugi is for her even though he's The Cool Dude and she's such a dork.... I love them....

    “Hey, Sweets.”

    Asugi had to stop unwrapping another lollipop when her wordsslipped from her nude lips. Cautiously, he turned his head to gaze at her,wondering if she was perhaps still traumatized from the explosion earlierwithin the mess hall (which he fixed) due to her cooking skills.

    Sophie clasped her hands together, her face beaming such aloving smile that it left Asugi gaping at her, the lollipop daring to slip fromhis slim fingers. “I got it,” she announced proudly, “Your new nickname is‘Sweets.’ Pretty cool, huh?”

    He did not know whether he shouldtake her words seriously or laugh as if it was some sort of joke. Raising aneyebrow, the ninja tore off the wrapper, sticking the delicacy into his mouth. “Look,Fumbles,” he began in an authoritative voice, “One: nicknames are my thing. Two: they aren’t names thatare come up with off-the-bat.”

    “But you gave me a nickname, so Ithink it’s only fair I give you one back.”

    “Sweets,” he deadpanned, his eyesboringly gazing at her sudden hesitance.

    “You know it took me two days tocome up with that one. You don’t want to hear the other one.” Her face now etchedwith regret at her words, and she flushed.

    Leaning forward, his eyessquinted on to her, now curious. “What’s the other option here?”

    Sophie swallowed, smiling weaklyand scratching the back of her head. “Ahaha…ha…ha…it was ‘Ninja,’…”

    “I honestly prefer Sweets.”

    “Don’t go.”

    Asugi stiffened, holding a Shuriken close to his chest. Hedid not reply, instead, relaxed, and continued to walk.

     Sophie frowned, watching as he paced his way towards thedoor of their quarters. There was no doubt in her mind that he was utterly concerned,for he could not sleep. She knew thathe would perhaps try and sneak out without even telling her, and it hurt her.

     His father had been missing for about a week, and eventhough the relationship between him and Saizo was not the best, deep down, hestill cared for him. He was worried sick. And it made Sophie feel useless fornot being able to provide him the comfort he needed at a time like this.

    When he grasped the doorknob, her much smaller arms wrappedaround his torso, holding him tightly and preventing his escape to the outside.His ears caught the one noise he absolutely hatedcoming out of her – sniffing. Her face buried into his back, her sniffs growingmore and more evident as the seconds ticked on by.

    “P-please, Asugi, don’t go… I know he’s missing, and we allmiss him, but you going out there won’thelp…” Her words sputtered rather quietly, against the back of the fabriccovering his upper torso. “I don’t want to lose you, too…”

    His hands moved down, being that he was much stronger thanher, the ninja was able to effortlessly yank her arms off his body. “I need togo find him, Sophes.”

    “No…”

    He turned over to plant a kiss to her forehead, smilingweakly. “Goodbye.”

    “Please, don’t,” she begged, exasperated. Her voice wheezedthrough her swallowed sobs stuck within her throat.

    And in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
