Tell me about my favourite lesbians! (Amaranthia and Maria that is, Emelia and Imogen are my second favourite lesbians, for now.) How did they meet? What were their first impressions of each other? Can they just be happy with kitty or do they have to deal with drama?
So, haha, bad news is the kitty animatic is basically an AU? it doesn't really fit into the actual canon timeline. I just thought it was a cute scene and that's why I animated it.
In canon, they meet at a train platform. They see each other every day for weeks, going in opposite directions, having a low-key crush on the other but not knowing how to start a conversation (nevermind that it's often not very long until their respective train arrives).
At some point there's a guy who hits on Maria and can't take no for an answer which makes Amaranthia go over and tell him to get lost (not at all in a menacing fashion or anything.) She planned to leave right after because she's useless and doesn't know how to hold a conversation with a stranger that she thinks she has a one-sided crush on. So she's caught entirely off-guard when Maria insists on taking her out for coffee as a thank you :3
Also they then get chased by a magic-sucking parasite that kills people it possesses but that's not related to the meet-cute haha
(Long) Snippet - At First Touch
“The best thing about growing up with you two is that you always let me go without worry that I can’t make it as well.”
“Because you can, Chip.” Alec poured more wine into their glasses and sat back down. “Your parents worry for your wellbeing and the rest of the world are worried you’ll embarrass them by some fumble. Or worried they have to change anything even slightly for you to join in.”
“Heaven forbid we should have to change something so the blind man can have fun with the rest.” Charlie took a long drink from his glass. “Tell me truthfully, do you bring me the ugly girls?”
Alec and Athena shared a laugh. It had been a running joke with them. Mothers were constantly throwing their less-attractive daughters at Charlie. Being heir to a baron was nothing to sneeze at. But Alec and Athena always tried to send pretty ones his way at parties to make up for it.
“That last one I tried was the prettiest girl there,” Alec said. “Well, second prettiest, I kept the prettiest for myself. Not very bright.”
“Did she taste good at least?” Athena asked with a cheeky grin. She’d reached the point where her comments slipped into being bawdier. If she had one more glass, she’d be telling all the dirty jokes she knew.
Alec laughed. “I didn’t get that far. But her breasts were soft.”
Athena looked over and saw Charlie’s cheeks turning red. She chuckled. “Charlie, tell me about Lady Gwendoline. You two are the talk of the town. Will the wedding bells chime soon?”
Charlie shook his head. “Not for the pair of us, I’m afraid. I put up a very valiant effort, but she always says no.” He grinned. “Well, about the marriage. She says yes about everything else.”
So he’d reached that point too. He always held his tongue in mixed company. Athena was sure he spoke that way to Alec. And she’d experienced it herself when they were alone.
At First Touch, Chapter One
Alec came close holding Charlie by the elbow.
Athena could feel her brother's anxiety vibrating through the space between them. She reached out and took his hand. "I'm only going to be gone a month. You used to leave me for several at a time."
Alec squeezed her hand. "You're my sister, Thee. I'm going to miss you like mad no matter how long you're apart from me."
Athena wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her eyes into his neck. "I'll miss not having you down the hall to pester when I can't sleep."
He returned her embrace and murmured in her ear, "You just roll over and pester your husband."
She laughed and stepped back. Charlie leaned against the wall and ran his thumb over the metal cap of his cane. Athena longed to press a hand to his cheek. She would miss that more than anything. She reached over and tapped Charlie's hand to get his attention.
"Hey, you." Athena's voice was soft.
Charlie smiled. It was one she always considered just for her. His eyes looked toward her and she felt like he could actually see her. She knew he couldn't, but she felt he saw more of her than anyone else did.
"Hey yourself," Charlie murmured.

Camp NaNoWriMo Progress (and a snippet)
I’ve written just over 1700 words today. I’m pretty proud of myself. I finished one chapter, completely wrote a chapter, and started the next chapter. It’s a wild ride and I am trying to keep things moving along at a good clip. Enjoy this little peek.
Athena stepped off the boat. It was an overcast day and she hoped it would help Thomas with his headache. He had been complaining about it for the last several hours. Athena had held his head in her lap and massaged his temples. He claimed it had helped a little, but she knew it hadn’t.
Thomas gave her a smile. “Don’t worry over me, dearest. I’ll be fine. I think it was the motion of the boat. I’ve never been a good traveler.”
She slipped her arm through his and stepped closer. “Then let’s get you home to bed with a cool compress.”
“That will be a big help.” He kissed her hand. “Make sure to invite your family for supper later in the week.”
“And will we travel to see David?”
His smiled grew. “We should. Let’s bring him a picnic.”
She laughed. “You’re a very adoring father, Thomas.”
“I do only the best I can for him.” He helped her up into their carriage and followed her up.
She pulled his head down onto her shoulder. “I know this. And I love you dearly for it.” She kissed his forehead.
He looked up at her and grinned. “What was that?”
She laughed. “I said I love you, silly man.” She pressed a kiss to his lips.
“That’s what I thought.”
Snippet
A movement out of the corner of her eye got her attention.
Alec came close holding Charlie by the elbow.
Athena could feel her brother’s anxiety vibrating through the space between them. She reached out and took his hand. “I’m only going to be gone a month. You used to leave me for several at a time.”
Alec squeezed her hand. “You’re my sister, Thee. One month or three, I’m going to miss you like mad.”
Athena wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her eyes into his neck. “I’ll miss not having you down the hall to pester when I can’t sleep.”
He returned her embrace and murmured in her ear, “You just roll over and pester your husband.”
She laughed and stepped back. Charlie leaned against the wall and ran his thumb over the metal cap of his cane. Athena wished everyone wasn’t so close so she could touch Charlie. She did reach over and tap him to get his attention.
“Hey, you.” Her voice was soft.
Charlie smiled. It was one she always considered just for her. His eyes looked toward her and she felt like he could actually see her. She knew he couldn’t, but she felt he saw more of her than anyone else did.
“Hey yourself,” Charlie murmured.
“You look very handsome today,” Athena said. “The both of you,” She quickly amended.
“Thank you.” They said in unison.
Athena laughed. Just which pair are the twins? She thought.
Chapter 4 of At First Touch will be up tomorrow because I have a media exam tomorrow and I need to revise tonight sorry!
