(the title is a terrible vamp pun, sorry lol)
{somewhat plotted starter for @firstlove-thesea }
hallelujah more vamp content for me
Vampires were something of the past, something he did not have to worry about anymore. Or so he thought.
Because when people started going missing in London, he could not help but feel suspicious about it. He let it be at first naturally and if it wasn’t for the hint of a madman, perhaps he would not have pursued any type of investigation at all. James knew a lot, too much about the creatures of the night – they were also rather fascinating in his opinion, which was an opinion his family never approved of.
But with his knowledge, he could not just leave it be, just ignore what was so obviously happening. The general public had no idea, but he did, he knew and it was not his place to let this keep happening. He had to find out if this was truly the work of a vampire and if it was, well he’d have to get rid of this monster no matter if he truly wanted to or not. It was for the best.
And through yet another hint – who knew it was to be trusted at all – James found himself in front of an old house and the supposed home of the vampire. It was not difficult at all to get inside (something he’d learned quite early, though he did not want to call it ‘breaking in’) and he’d brought all the utensils to solve the issue if he were to find a vampire.
After a while, he was about to give up his search when he noticed the door which lead to the cellar, his heart beating faster as he opened it and stepped into the darkness. The only light source was the oil lamp he thankfully had and indeed there was a wooden box. James was nervous, really nervous as he carefully lifted the lid of said box only to reveal somebody inside.
He jumped back a bit, even though he had been suspecting to find this creature by then so he took a deep breath and stepped forward once more, studying the features of the vampire, it looked almost peaceful... And he had been so certain he’d kill the vampire, to ensure the safety of people and prove to himself and his father that he could.
But the thing was, he could not.
It wasn’t like he didn’t try, he tried multiple times actually but he just failed to take the final step. He didn’t know why, god why could he not kill the vampire! He had all the reasons to! And while James was wasting his time walking around, trying to talk himself into just getting it done, he did not notice how late it was getting, how much time was actually passing by and from his position he could not tell that it was getting dark either.
So when he went to try one last time, it was too late. A rush of fear went through his body as two eyes stared back at him in the darkness.
