It’s weird how they sometimes play Jake’s relationship with his kids like he’s a deadbeat dad who’s missing out on their childhoods, but... he didn’t?

Assuming those headlines are about the slumber party from the very last episode (which would be a nice bit of continuity) I’d say those headlines are accurate.
