In response to #52, nobody is policing anybody. Nobody here has the means to actually stop these people from doing whatever they want to do. It’s not a crime to age up a young idol by almost a decade, just like it’s not a crime to call something weird on the internet.
The point is not that the act of aging up a fc is inherently misogynistic, the point is that the dismissal of women over the age of like literally 21 as non-viable and uninteresting is misogynistic. You’re missing the point on purpose to try and make it sound too extreme to be a reasonable argument, but it is one.
Twice have the same age range as Seventeen or BTS, so do Blackpink. Both groups had comebacks like a matter of weeks ago, have endless fountains of content, trendy and cute fashions (which are not weird or outdated just because they’re in their mid or late twenties, like a separate anon implied) so if it’s a matter of popularity then why not them? What is it about older fcs (and we’re using the word older to literally mean like 25 or something here) that are unusable? What is it about them that does not fit your OC, who is usually aged up to be around the ages of these women, to the point that someone far younger fits better? If it’s their age, then yeah, that’s misogynistic.
If it’s that the writer just doesn’t like any older idols, then that contradicts your entire point on faceclaims not being about the idol. If it’s only related to what your character looks like… Wonyoung doesn’t look 28. If it absolutely has to be an ‘04 liner, why not put her in a group with members closer in age to her, why does it have to be a 3rd gen group. You guys can’t choose to make the least sense at every avenue and then wonder why people are confused at to why you’re making these choices.
Just as nobody can force them to switch faceclaims or not use pictures of 15 year old girls for their own entertainment, they can’t force us to stop calling them weird for it. It’s a weird thing to do. Having such a vested interest in imagining scenarios between men pushing thirty and girls who look like teenagers that you want to dedicate your free time to writing stories about that is one thing, but these real life, living human girls shouldn’t have to be a part of that in any way, even just as a visual aid. It’s not illegal, but they’re not above criticism, whether that criticism annoys you or not.
I know this is way too long but my final point is that you pointed out that nobody is writing smut about real minors etc, and since there are minors being brought up here as faceclaim choices I wanna respond to that. People do write about real idols here; this whole topic is about the faceclaims used in additions, and additions literally require writing about at least one whole group of real idols. Given the fact that there ARE people writing inappropriate things about minors on AO3 (for example), if the presence of very young and especially underage idols bejng visually depicted and used as a resource in this community becomes a normalised thing, then how long do you seriously think that fact will stay true?
