ateez as people in my philosophy class

hongjoong: the one who asks questions

this guy just wants to make sure his notes are Perfect. he asks so many questions but is very respectful and is as non-disruptive as he can be. he uses the “raise hand” function in zoom and doesn’t just call out or interrupt. if there’s questions in the chat that the professor isn’t looking at, he’ll be the one to ask for the class.

seonghwa: the professor

such a sweet man, seonghwa is the professor of the class!! he’s so patient and kind and makes even the smallest bits of class fun, like asking us to turn on our cameras just so he feels less lonely. he assigns a lot, but it’s just because it’s a complex subject and he wants to make sure we have the understanding needed to pass the class and have a good time doing it.

yunho: the one who shows off his pets

every time someone mentions animals, yunho is there to show off his pets. sometimes he’ll just bring them on screen to chill, and other times he starts playing with them in the middle of the lecture. much to hongjoong’s chagrin, the chat quickly veers away from educational content and towards “omg yunho your cats are so cute!!” or “wow what kind of dog is that?” and he’ll respond to every question in the chat. he especially loves when the professor catches sight of his pets and compliments them.

yeosang: the one that you’ve never seen or heard before

is yeosang even awake for the lectures? he’s in the meeting, but his camera is off, he’s muted, never types in the chat, and even when the professor puts the class into breakout rooms, the group he’s with hardly even notices he’s there. of course he is awake, and despite being on his phone for most of the class, his notes are immaculate. thinks he is being enigmatic but really, he’s just a wallflower. a for effort though!

san: the one who is always in the chat

san honestly may as well have muted the lecture. half the stuff he writes in the chat is not at all pertinent to class, and does he even know what philosophy is? he’s more focused on making friends (or party buddies) than he is on getting good grades. he’s totally capable of passing the class, but just isn’t interested in applying himself in this case. he definitely tries to ask the professor for extra credit at the end of the semester, but as much as the professor likes san, he’s not gonna give him the extra credit lol.

mingi: the one who has a dope zoom setup

he’s all out on the zoom setup with a greenscreen, a nice gaming chair, and even a professional quality microphone. it’s like he’s a twitch streamer, but he really just wants to look and sound professional for his zoom classes. nobody else sees the point of it, but mingi hasn’t had much contact with other people due to corona so he really wants to make sure that he’s presenting himself the best he can to some of the only people he sees on a regular basis. such a kind boy who does his best to be friendly and kind to everyone else.

wooyoung: the one who won’t shut up

a lot of students in a philosophy class seem to think that they are superior. the sort of holier-than-thou mindset where they feel the need to tell everyone their whole life story and share way too much about everything. it all starts with one question to the professor, but instead of letting the professor actually answer the question, he keeps interrupting and trying to make it about himself when he just asked a yes or no question. arguably the most annoying type of student ever. (love you wooyoung)

jongho: the one who subtly flexes

he’s not the most active during discussions, but when he answers a question, you know he’s got a big brain. he has perfect notes, but isn’t very vocal about it like hongjoong. jongho is like the best person to be in a breakout room with, especially if you haven’t done the reading. he’ll gently reprimand you and tell you to make sure to do it next time, but won’t make you feel bad, and will explain all of the key points to you. also every one of the other students think he’s the cutest and will always respond to his discussion posts.

idk where this came from but uhhhhh here we are. i hope this doesn’t come across as wooyoung bashing lol but he really is the kind of person who doesn’t know when to shut his mouth (but i love him for that!!) i hope everyone is having a good day c:

ateez as things i like to do

hongjoong:

gardening or just going to places with flowers and plants and basking in the scents and feelings and saying hi to all of the little bugs working hard and feeling the dirt on my fingertips and toes and even though it’s a pain to wash, just getting a little bit dirty while planting and giving a home and a life to a flower because it’s so rewarding to see the ethereal beauty that comes from something that was once smaller than my hand.

seonghwa:

stargazing, even if it’s just looking at the night sky for a few seconds right before i have to be somewhere because sometimes it’s scary to know that i’m so small in a universe so big, constantly expanding, but also sometimes it’s reassuring, almost cathartic to know that in the grand scheme of things, do the little things matter as much as i make them out to?

yunho:

going on long hikes in places i’ve never been before alone and just existing in a place of sturdy solitude where everything feels so still and serene and peaceful and even the animals seem to think so with the way they don’t skitter away as fast as they can, instead i exist with the world standing still around me and just take it all in and i can finally breathe.

yeosang:

gaming for far too long because i get so caught up in storylines and visuals and everything else that happens that helps me to escape from daily stresses and sometimes i realize that it’s been hours but i can’t bring myself to stop because i’m so close to the boss or levelling up and the feeling of being powerful in a game or being able to create my own journey is so much the opposite of real life that i feel like i never want it to end.

san:

trying out as many different hobbies as i can- embroidery, making flower crowns, collecting swords, skating, learning languages- everything on a whim to see if i like it or if it’s not for me but willing to try anything once to be a jack of all trades, having fun with so many hobbies but then moving on to the next and not staying tied down all while remembering everything i learned with the things i have created and done in the past.

mingi:

poetry to cleanse my soul when everything is just too much or too numb and finding all these feelings inside of myself and writing them in a way that will help me be more okay with those feelings because it’s all too difficult sometimes when talking to other people about the way i feel is out of the question and i just want to run, be anywhere but here but the words i write ground me, they are my solace, and it doesn’t matter if they’re haikus or long or short or in parts or just one word because it works.

wooyoung:

bartending and making drinks for people because wow blue curacao looks so cool and layered shots are so fun and you get to show off just a little while still making something that is just so exciting for both the producer and consumer and hearing the clink of ice in a glass or filling the glass up with just the right amount of drink is so satisfying and even using the recipes but adding a little bit of a twist and experimenting and either ending up with a rewarding, tasty drink, or something that should never be made again and the fun is in not knowing.

jongho:

metalworking and blacksmithing and just creating things with hard work and sweat and being proud of the calluses and bruises because it translates to “i did this and i put everything into it” and even when i show my work to other people, they sometimes say “i could do that” and i say “well, why didn’t you?” because if i can learn and do this on my own, why are you trying to put me down for taking the initiative to put in the effort?

this is kind of weird and rambly so i apologize for that but i just felt like writing this so hopefully it’s not too boring or out of nowhere lol i hope y’all enjoy c:

ateez as dpr songs because i love dpr and i love ateez c:

hongjoong: zombie pop, action

to me, zombie pop gives off the feeling of running through an empty field. i’m not sure exactly why i associate this feeling with hongjoong, but maybe its how his smile and laugh can light up his whole face. i also feel like the more experimental composition of this song (with the jazz feel and instrumentation) fits his style of trying out new things. as for action, that whole song gives off a very warm and lovely feeling. we already have established that i’m in love with barista hongjoong, and this song seems to take place in a coffee shop. not only could i see him singing this song, but i can see him existing in the same universe as this song.

seonghwa: interlude, jasmine

interlude is a short and sweet piano piece that i can’t help but think of seonghwa when i listen to it. i feel like this is something seonghwa would listen to or play in the background while he’s doing some menial task. it just seems like a very sweet song and seonghwa seems like a very sweet person. jasmine reminds me a bit more of seonghwa’s flirty side, while still somehow remaining sincere and lovely. also, the visuals of the music video are incredible, and i feel like those nature scenes can also be found through some of seonghwa’s mannerisms. this song also feels like trying to take care of someone you love, which is something seonghwa does often with his members.

yunho: our last dream, eyes of dpr

yunho is an optimistic person it seems, and when i listen to our last dream, i feel hopeful. the song conveys a feeling of wonder and exploraion, which i just associate with yunho. not only is this song beautiful, it invokes a lot of emotion for me. the sort of happiness i get when i listen to this song is the sort of happiness i’d think yunho’s friends would feel while spending the day with him. eyes of dpr has the sort of sound that yunho makes me feel. relaxed, but with some extra spice and kick to get the feeling to be a little bit more fun and hype. this song feels like riding a motorcycle in the middle of the day with nobody else on the road, and it’s the sort of feeling that yunho would go crazy for.

yeosang: eyes of rem, no rescue needed

eyes of rem is a more subdued song, with not very many parts surprising the listener. it’s a reliable song for when you just want to feel whatever emotion you’re feeling. i feel like yeosang is the friend who is reliably there to keep you grounded no matter what may be going on, and this song gives me the same vibe. with no rescue needed, it’s almost a completely different feeling. this song has more of an upbeat tempo and portrays the message of “i’m okay with where i’m at.” that’s how i perceive yeosang in life. he’s just vibing and taking things as they come.

san: legacy, know me

legacy is a very cool song. especially in the second half of the song, the rap just reminds me of the way san moves, especially when he’s popping off on stage. i feel like the borderline chaotic vibes this song throws off matches how san is just sort of always energetic and ready to go, no matter what is in his way. know me is almost the same way, but i feel like it encompasses his more flirty side as well. the song just sounds a bit more sultry which i feel fits san’s presence as well. it still has the same energy of “don’t get in my way” as legacy, but is more emotive and expressive.

mingi: thirst, just dream it

i have to start by saying i think i’d die if mingi ever did a cover of thirst. i’m not sure exactly why i relate that song with mingi so much, but the way the background is very relaxed but the vocals are more exciting just makes me think of mingi. i feel like he just fits with this song so well. with just dream it, it’s almost the same feeling. in the beginning, the languid piano playing with the background noise of the city is so relaxing and sweet, but once you get a bit further in, the song hits. mingi feels like a very relaxed person, but he’s also intensely passionate about everything he does. when the rap at the end of the song starts, it just feels like so much passion was put into that, so it just makes me think of mingi’s demeanor.

wooyoung: text me, neon

text me is a cute and flirty song. i’m sure you can already see where i’m going with this one. wooyoung is just a fun, cute, flirty guy who wants to be loved. it’s just an adorable song about wanting to get to know someone who you’re really into, and i feel like wooyoung gives off thosse attentive, wanting to know how to make you happy vibes. neon is a more hype song, and i can totally see wooyoung having the same feelings that this song portrays. like mingi, he’s a very passionate person, especially in regards to those he’s close with. he just gives of the idea that he’s the most supportive and loving person you could know, and i feel like that loving and supportive energy is similar to the energy expressed in this song.

jongho: billboard uwu, geronimo

billboard uwu is a very pure song. there’s not a lot of elements in the music that have no reason to be there, and i feel like jongho is the same. as a maknae, he’s expected to be cutesy and affectionate, but that’s not really who he is, so he doesn’t pretend to be. there are times where things switch up (just like in the song) but overall, it is a reliable and steady rhythm. geronimo is just a song that i hear and go “jongho” in my mind. i just feel like it’s such a good song and jongho is such a good boy.

end note: please support dpr!! all of their music videos are superb and their music is so amazing. also it was hard to explain my reasoning rather than just saying “its just a vibe” lol so i’m sorry if it reads slightly boring.

what ateez would spin if they were in color guard !!

hongjoong: sabre

obviously i see him as the guard captain, pretty well versed in all of the equipment, but my heart is telling me he’d be part of the sabre line (as well as the sabre section leader)!! something about the delicate beauty of sabre makes me think of hongjoong, but at the same time, it takes a lot of precision and guts to spin sabre, because that shit hurts. i feel like hongjoong would like the amount of practice that has to go into sabre in order for it to look as good as he makes it. he’d definitely get some sort of sabre solo during the show, and would always add a little bit of fun flair every time!

seonghwa: rifle

seonghwa being on the rifle line is something i feel so strongly that my mind cannot be changed. he is all strong lines and hard hits and that is so inherently rifle that i cannot see him on any other piece of equipment. not only would he be naturally good at rifle, but he’d put in the work to improve as much as he can. i feel like not only would his tosses be immaculate, but his form underneath the tosses would be so solid that the judges at competitions wouldn’t know what to say. he’d also be a master at the choreography that comes along with spinning, and formation changes seem like they’d be super fun for him. he’d be the rifle section leader as well, always looking out for the other members and keeping them in line.

yunho: dance

we all knew this was coming- yunho as dance section leader c: he’s just so versatile when it comes to the way he’s able to move his body and his expressions just make it so he’s able to tear up the performance, no matter what the concept is. he’d also like flag and would look so lovely with the silk flowing around him during the flag feature but his true passion would lie in the story he’s telling with his body and the way he connects with the music and the audience. he’d also be a beast when it comes to moving props on and off the stage, and would lowkey like folding the floor (like some sort of monster).

yeosang: flag

flag section leader for sure!! master of the one-handed 45 and literally every other terrifying toss that could kill a man. the other members of the guard are convinced he doesn’t know what fear feels like because he’ll try the riskiest tosses without a second thought. loves holding his form under a toss for as long as he can and will literally make the others worried for his safety. thinks cones are the devil but he still practices them religiously. he tried sabre once but as soon as it popped a blood vessel in his finger, he decided he would never touch it again. he’s also really good at dance and loves extending his body into the flag, creating beautiful lines and shapes and stories with his flag as an extension of his body.

san: flag

san is not as brave as yeosang when it comes to flag, but he still loves the rush of catching a toss perfectly. sometimes he gets too nervous of a head injury to toss right away, but as soon as he gets the hang of whatever toss he’s struggling with, he won’t stop showing it off to the others. he tends to get easily frustrated though and sometimes will need to take a short break to calm down before getting his mojo back. he also sometimes complains if the show is more of a slow, sad show rather than sharp and aggressive, but he can pull off anything. he loves the way the silk of the flag looks when it’s dancing around him and strives to take the beauty of the flag and use it to help his movements flow better.

mingi: dance

honestly, mingi would love to be on the weapons line, but something about potentially dropping makes him a bit too anxious to truly dedicate himself to a weapon. he likes being able to express himself through his dancing and movements on the floor and feels like he doesn’t really need a piece of equipment to help him be even more expressive. he does look really good when he spins flag though, just the way he moves with the pole and silk in his hands is so elegant and pretty but he really thinks dance on its own is more than enough for him to be happy with. however, if there’s any ribbon work, he’s all over that and would 100% be the most excited to get to dance with the flowing lines of the ribbon around him.

wooyoung: rifle

like seonghwa, wooyoung has lots of strength in his body and the way he holds himself, leading me to think he’d spin rifle!! he’d be the member of the guard who took two months to learn how to do a drop spin (aka me oops) but once he gets the hang of it, he’d advance pretty quickly and would accept the bruises and injuries as signs of growth. as much as he loves showing off by doing really high tosses, he’d really like the smaller things when it comes to rifle, and the way the rifle and him move in tandem. like san, he’d prefer more aggressive shows, but loves showing off how lovely and graceful he can be with his rifle.

jongho: sabre

even though jongho is big strong man (a stereotypical rifle) i feel like he’d enjoy the more nuanced parts of sabre. he would love spinning rifle as well, but the extra challenge of making sabre look good is so appealing to him that he can’t turn down an offer to be on the sabre line. he also likes to try to do all the harder tosses that hongjoong does even though hongjoong has 3 years more experience than him, but honestly he’s pretty good at learning the new skills. even though the rest of the guard hates it, he loves doing warm-up drop spin exercises just because it feels like it gets him really excited for the rest of practice.

i was in color guard for a bit (and still spin rifle and sabre as a hobby) and i couldn’t get the idea of the ateezers on a guard out of my head so here’s this!! lowkey my rifle brain was like “ateez rifle line yes” but saying they’d all spin rifle is a little biased lol so i tried to be mostly objective about this!! i hope you enjoyed reading!!!
