✨Blog Tour: A Theater for Dreamers by Polly Sampson Theater for Dreamers was not a book/genre that I read often. I believe this book could fall into historical fiction, chick-lit, escapism, foreign/ex-pat experiences, etc. “Picture it, greek isle, summer of 1960, tanned bodies, bohemian lifestyles, artsy…” (*in my Sophia voice) this is what awaits Erica, Jimmy and her brother Bobby. The trio of them are trying to figure out life as a writer/poet/artist and they hook up with a bunch of other artsy-fartsy ex-pats (foreign colony) to live life to the edges. Her mother’s friend sends her mother a book, and Erica, grabs the idea that maybe she should go to Hydra and find this friend of her mother’s and see what secret life her mother held. She also is wanting to get away from her abusive father. So she embarks on this journey with her brother Bobby, and her boyfriend Jimmy, and immerses herself in the life and culture of this Greek island, Hydra. The book is also filled with all sorts of escapism tropes, love triangle cliché-ish situations, and chick lit vibes. This is a book you would probably find on a cruise in their library on the boat. Something to occupy your mind a bit. If you are a Jojo Moyes fan or looking for a lite escapism/palate cleanser, you might like this. Thank you to Algonquin Books, Polly Sampson for this book in exchange for a honest and fair review. #atheaterfordreamers #pollysampson #algonquinbooks #blogtour #readreadread #write #maddblackreads #wellreadblackgirls #diversespines #goodreads #blackreaders #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookaholic #bookaddict #bookstagrammer #diversebooks #bookworm #blackgirlsread #lovetoread #blackwomenread #readblackbooks #blackandbookish 🏷 @algonquinbooks @pollysampson https://www.instagram.com/p/COvHR4Irh7C/?igshid=1v3prgkw60o2h
