Costume Fairy Adventures has been downloaded on itch.io like 160 times in the last 24 hours, and while I understand a certain level of "better get it before it's gone" in the wake of Recent Events, I guarantee you Costume Fairy Adventures is not the sort of thing that's being targeted here.

I’m in Victoria, Australia. In 43 degree (Celsius) heat. Surrounded by hot winds and fire. It’s been this hot for three days. The main roads all around my town are closed due to fires, the farms are burning, the local pools closed. My power is out, There is smoke in the house. The CFA sirens blare every few minutes. The wind is chaotic. The air is dry. The animals are scared, we are scared. The birds outside have fled. We’re scrolling the weather and emergency app, praying for the temperature to drop, the wind to slow, the slightest bit of rain, to get the “under control” notice.

And I would still rather be here and feel safer here than the USA.

Choices Spread Kindness Celebration

Welcome to the fifth annual Choices Spread Kindness Celebration! This event begins on Social Media Kindness Day (November 9) and "ends" on World Kindness Day (November 13). But, just like in past years, there will be a bonus day (November 14) for you to celebrate you!

The goal of the event is simple: spread kindness in the fandom, but this year I want it to go further, our fandom is getting smaller day by day. Every single person in this fandom is important and matters. I hope that we can turn out this year to embrace who is still here and celebrate all our fandom still has. You matter and I hope you will encourage others.

Without you, this event can't be all that it can be, but with you, with just a little participation each day, we can bring encouragement, support, and joy to our little corner of tumblr.

This is sort of like secret Santa but just for kind messages. You do not need to create, buy, or gift anyone anything. This is open to anyone in the fandom (creator, reader, supporter, anyone!)

All that is required is that you write the person you’ve been assigned a kind, encouraging, supportive message for November 13th. It can be generic, but I do encourage you to take a few minutes to look over the person's blog and see if you can give them a compliment specific to them that might be more meaningful.

so there’s a moment in the musical “Come From Away” where Hannah, the mother of the kid who’s a firefighter, she says, “I’m telling you, listen, my son, he takes risks. He’s not missing; he’s helping or hurt.” I believe it’s in the song “I Am Here”.

which like… kinda hit me?? Like this woman has watched him grow up, has RAISED him, has probably SEEN him take risks, has potentially stayed beside him in a hospital room or helped heal his burns or scrapes from accidents or falls or other dangerous sitches. I know CFA is based on real people, so the fact that this is real somehow makes it even more painful to think about. She KNOWS her son. She KNOWS that he’s out there helping people. And she can’t do a damn thing.

it’s just… idk. It’s one of those like, moments, that really make me appreciate come from away because it’s so raw emotionally. Not only is the music an absolute bop (“I am an islander, I’m an islander”) but the sheer emotion behind the lyrics and dialogue really reminds you of the tragedy of this day.

I was born after 9/11 but some days I feel like I’ve vicariously seen it bc of stories like these. Naturally nothing will compare to sheer horror that these people went thru, and I am so deeply sorry for all those lives. Reminds me how to precious life is. (“So many stories, just gone.”)

sorry for rant. In the midst of my scramble to wrap up my school year & finally publish my VLD fanfic, I’ve been having a quiet obsession with Come From Away and its beauty. Love musicals. <3
