When the Torran research teams -- and by extension, the associated tribe itself -- send gifts and news back to Sindria, it is never simply a written report. They always include at least one gift and in some instances, the tribesmen include their own missives. Some of them are planning to visit soon as part of their yearly exchange and in preparation, they wanted to extend their thanks for the invitation to Sindria and the island nation’s continued support of the research and the people themselves. And while the gesture is very kind, much of it escapes Ja’far as he reads through the parcel they’ve received. Ja’far’s understanding of the Torran language is rudimentary but he does try to expand his knowledge.
It’s packed with a few items; mostly handmade gifts and a letter from their main correspondent within the Toran Tribe. The young man writes primarily in his own language and while the research team member in charge of sending forth the items has done his best to provide a translated summary, there’s still a bit that gets lost in the word. Particularly when it comes to the carved words upon the crafted vase they’ve sent over. It’s clearly very old but wonderfully crafted and Sinbad should really find a good place to display it before the tribe’s arrival. And Ja’far should draft a respond in the mean time, as best he can, at least.
As he moves out of the room to get a fresh piece of parchment, he runs into Aya, walking through the halls. He smiles in a gentle greeting. But seeing her reminds him; hadn’t she, or at the very least Sinbad, mentioned that she hails from the Torran people? Perhaps she’d be interested in what he’s received.
“My, you have good timing. We just received a package you may find interesting. Forgive me if it seems a bit forward of me but your heritage stems from the Torran tribes, does it not? One of Sindria’s research teams just sent us a parcel from their base in one of the Torran villages. Would you be interested in it? You are free to decline, I just thought it an interested opportunity. And perhaps you’ll have better luck reading their letter than I.”
